[00:00:02] Intro: Hello, and welcome to the Junkyard Love Podcast. Oh, what is Gucci, my dude skis? This is the Junkyard Love Podcast. Today I'm going to start this off with just a small excerpt from Yuval Harari's Sapiens, A brief history of humankind.
[00:00:51] Jacob: It's a great book. I haven't made my way all the way through it yet, but we discussed some us and they and them in the coming episodes of the podcast, so this excerpt here just kind of stood out to me. I'm going to read this right after the end of this. We'll get right going into the episode with my buddy Trenten Kesler, excited for you Guys to hear this one. The global vision. From a practical perspective, the most important stage in the process of global unification occurred in the last few centuries, when empires grew and trades intensified. Ever-tightening links were formed between the people of Afro-Asia, America, Australia, and Oceania. Thus, Mexican chili peppers made it into the Indian food, and Spanish cattle began grazing in Argentina. Yet from an ideological perspective, an even more important development occurred during the first millennium BC, when the idea of a universal order took root. For thousands of years previously, history was already moving slowly in the directions of global unity, but the idea of a universal order governing the entire world was still Alien to most people.
[00:01:57] Jacob: Homo sapiens evolved to think of people as divided into us and them. This was the group immediately around you, whoever you were, and them was everyone else. In fact, no social animal is ever guided by the interests of the entire species to which it belongs. No chimpanzee cares about the interests of the chimpanzee species. No snail will lift a tentacle for the global snail community. No lion alpha male makes a bid for becoming the king of all lions, and at the entrance of no beehive can one find the slogan, Worker Bees of the World, Unite. But beginning with the cognitive revolution, Homo sapiens became more and more exceptional in this respect. People began to cooperate on a regular basis with complete strangers, whom they imagined As brothers or friends. Yet this brotherhood was not universal. Somewhere in the next valley or beyond the mountain range, one could still sense them. When the first pharaoh, Minis, united Egypt around 3000 BC, it was clear to the Egyptians that Egypt had a border, and beyond the border lurked barbarians. The barbarians were alien, threatening, and interesting only to the extent that they had Land or natural resources that the Egyptians wanted. All the imagined orders people created tended to ignore a substantial part of humankind.
[00:03:14] Jacob: The first millennium BC witnessed the appearance of three potentially universal orders, whose devotees could for the first time imagine the entire world and the entire human race as a single unit governed by a single set of laws. One was us, at least potentially. There was no longer them. The first universal order to appear was economic, the monetary order. The second universal order was political, the imperial order. The third universal order was religious, the order of universal religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam.
[00:03:47] Jacob: Merchants, conquerors, and prophets were the first people who managed to transcend the binary evolutionary division, us versus them, and to foresee the potential unity of humankind. For the merchants, the entire world was a single market and all humans were potential customers. They tried to establish an economic order that would apply to all, everywhere. For the conquerors, the entire world was a single empire and all humans were potential subjects. And for the prophets, the entire world held a single truth and all humans were potential believers. They too tried to establish an order that would be applicable for everyone and everywhere. During the last three millennia, people made more and more ambitious attempts to realize that global vision. The next three chapters discuss how money, empires, and universal religion spread, this referring to the book itself, and how they laid the foundation of the United World of today. We begin with the story of the greatest conqueror in history, a conqueror possessed of extreme tolerance and adaptability, which consequently managed To gain the allegiance of all people. This conqueror is money. People who do not believe in the same God or obey the same king are more than Willing to use the same money.
[00:04:53] Jacob: Osama bin Laden, for all of his hatred of American culture, American religion, and American politics, was very fond of American dollars. How did money succeed where gods and kings failed? Enjoy the episode. The listeners can't hear it, but as you're in the middle of the conversation, you're just hearing sex sounds. Do you watch Letterkenny? I don't. What is it? You ever seen Letterkenny? I haven't. It's on Hulu. Do you have Hulu? I have Hulu. You got to watch Letterkenny. Letterkenny, what's it about? It's about it's like it's Canadian trailer park boys, basically.
[00:05:28] Trenten: Oh, OK. That sounds great. It's hilarious. There's one where they're talking about like porn stars and they're
[00:05:35] Jacob: Like, well, personally, you know, I go, oh, fuck. But most porn stars go, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. There's like seven seasons. It's fucking fantastic. I'm going to have to check it out. I always like a good. It's probably not the best thing to do right before bed. Just like totally numb your mind. But I like a before I go to bed to make my brain not think too much. I like putting like mindless stuff on kind of, you know, like something that's funny more than anything. Not like I don't want to watch a documentary before bed. Right. I do the same thing. I listen to Louis L'Amour Westerns before I go to bed, son.
[00:06:10] Trenten: Well, I don't know that either.
[00:06:11] Jacob: Well, so it's that Louis L'Amour Louis. Like one of the greatest Western authors of all time.
[00:06:17] Trenten: Oh, OK. Had enough Louis L'Amour Zane Gray. It's just like spaghetti Western style books sound solid.
[00:06:24] Jacob: Yeah, you know, put my cowboy boots on and go to sleep and just go to sleep in bed. Trenten Kesler, give me air. Cheers. Good to see you buddy. You brother, did you know that you probably knew this 100 percent? Did you know that when you so when you do a cheers for sure, you know this when you do a cheers, you clink your glass and then when you tap it against the table, that is a toast to the establishment. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. So I Eric and I just learned that a few months back before the quarantine. So, I mean, you would definitely know that you've got some bar to your ears. Have you seen me do that? No, but it's one of those things like you do it. I do it on your table. It's like it's literally second nature to me. I don't it is cheers. I love it now, but I mean, I did it. But honestly, it'd be one of those things where I'm like, listen, guys, like I don't want to ruin the vibe. But like, why did we just do that? Like I would just follow along as a follower. I would just clink my glass on the table with everybody.
[00:07:21] Jacob: Like I work in bars. And I should have known this long ago that when you clink the glass, it's a cheers to the atmosphere to ask me. I would have told you. I was just participating. I just wanted to fit in with the people that I was cheers in with.
[00:07:32] Trenten: Really, that's like half of my life. I'm just wanting to fit in with the people I was drinking with.
[00:07:39] Jacob: Right. That's all of our lives. So Trent, man, it's good to have you finally on here. Well, it's been too long. Coronavirus messed up our vibe, dog. I know. It's weird. I feel like I had momentum before coronavirus. Like I was like, just shooting for the stars.
[00:07:54] Trenten: I'm like, I got this going on.
[00:07:55] Jacob: I got this scheduled. I got these shows going on. I'm going to do this. And then after that, I'm going to do this and then it happened. And like, I just stopped looking at my fucking calendar completely. Like I have on. I ordered a new calendar the other day and my old calendar had like gotten waterlogged. Like this is how much I didn't care about my days. You're crying, crying. I was crying, wiping out things off your schedule. Yeah, it was tears. It was entirely waterlogged.
[00:08:21] Trenten: No, I had that fountain, like Link leaked.
[00:08:24] Jacob: But I got a new calendar in like it starts next month, which is a weird situation on how I managed to get a calendar that only starts next month.
[00:08:33] Trenten: Like the first month is July, 2020.
[00:08:35] Jacob: About like a five yearly calendar. I don't know if there's just somebody on Amazon who's just like every month, just rip a page out and sell it. That guy is a hustler, though. Yeah, by two calendars a year. Yeah, I don't moneymaker deal. He's got it going on. I but so OK, so where I'm at. I've been the last couple of weeks. I've been like, OK, you know, like, because it's the vibe of coronavirus has been kind of a lifting. And. We're like, OK, we got to get the momentum going.
[00:09:01] Trenten: We got to get life to resume. We've got to get people back in here. You've got to whatever.
[00:09:06] Jacob: So I've been slowly trying to fill the schedule. Are you cutting in and out on that thing? No, I'm stopping the dog from chewing on the cable.
[00:09:13] Trenten: Oh, yeah. Dude, he'll do that. Just give him a no. We've got ladies and gentlemen, if you hear some cute sniffing
[00:09:21] Jacob: Or some furry cuddles or some
[00:09:26] Trenten: Butt scratches, it's just the cute dog. Oh, the cute sniffing is me in my mouth. Breathing from the cute sniffing. It's Trenten in blue.
[00:09:33] Jacob: Yeah, Trenten was talking about. I think that a lot of people are suffering through allergies right now. And I was being a woo and I was saying that I'm pretty fucking I'm convinced that I'm able to destroy my allergies as long as my diet's good. If I'm doing my breath work, if I'm doing my meditation and my yoga, I know it's hard for people to understand how that's correlated. But I'm telling you, man, my allergies don't really fuck with me. Dude, you are a picture of good health and sex appeal right now. Thanks. What else? What else? Anymore? That's it. That's all I got. I'm out. I'm fine with that. But no, I feel you on like just the stop, I guess.
[00:10:11] Trenten: But for me, I'm impatient. I got to that point with everything where it was like, OK, losing every wedding that I have booked for the next three months is canceled. Every I'm my business is closed.
[00:10:27] Jacob: All of my events and big events, you know, like our charity events and stuff we do, I haven't gotten confirmation on any of her ball or any of the boys and girls club stuff like it's
[00:10:39] Trenten: Up in the air. They don't know how many people they can have. These are events that we do with 400 to 700 people.
[00:10:47] Jacob: So we're not sure if we have that many people. You know, like, when are we able to do that sort of thing? So for me, I like just at that point.
[00:10:56] Trenten: And I think it was about three weeks, maybe two weeks before they finally let us open back up at the Clean Machine.
[00:11:01] Jacob: I was like remodeling the office. Nice. I thought it was going to take me three days. It took me 10 new floors, new paint, new everything.
[00:11:09] Trenten: And I was like, OK, I'm ordering. Ordering bartending stuff, ordered like four new sets of just stuff to replace some of the older stuff we've had for eight or nine years. But now for me, now that we are open back up, I've just hit this because I was keep telling my dad and like my office manager, I was I am making up now for all the slacking that I was doing before coronavirus.
[00:11:35] Jacob: I think I was just in a rut.
[00:11:39] Trenten: But realizing all the things that I wasn't getting done before coronavirus that now I've got a brand new office at the Clean Machine, like new floors,
[00:11:50] Jacob: New desks, new keyboards, new chairs.
[00:11:54] Trenten: Except I hate the new chair I bought.
[00:11:55] Jacob: So I use my old ratty one because it's broken in smells like farts, right?
[00:12:00] Trenten: But I'm like for the Clean Machine. I mean, fluid and the DJ stuff and events like I've always loved that.
[00:12:10] Jacob: Just never, you know, that's been my drive.
[00:12:14] Trenten: But running the Clean Machine for that, I was just over it.
[00:12:16] Jacob: Right. Work, the office was gross. It smelled like cigarettes in there from the dad's smoking back or you could smoke in the buildings, you know.
[00:12:26] Trenten: But now like brand new office, everything. I'm just I feel like I'm dialed in right now coming out of coronavirus. Dude, that can actually do a crazy ton, like just having your environment and check.
[00:12:37] Jacob: Like that's something like clean. Yeah, just yeah, I, you know, down here is definitely I'm someone who like I can't with I mean, like, you know,
[00:12:47] Trenten: Obsessive compulsive sort of things. Like I can't seem to concentrate fully on my stuff until it's like a
[00:12:55] Jacob: There's a lot with having your environment clean. Like it's, you know, anybody would just be able to concentrate on less. Like when you walk into a room, if there's nothing on the ground, if there's not like a pile of dirt, whatever, it's one less thing that you glance at. It's one less thing you think about like you can just go straight to work. Yeah, I think that having your like your place in order really gets you thinking straight, dude, gets you to where you can actually like I don't have to worry about that other shit. I'm happy here as soon as I walk in because it's like it's just ready for me. It's I think everybody should like, you know, the typical clean your room, make your bed, like that sort of thing. I'm always chiming in, you know, before you go to bed, like clean up. So when you walk in the morning, it's just this like.
[00:13:38] Trenten: Ready for you for sure. And it's for me, like my dad comes into the office and he's like,
[00:13:45] Jacob: He's been in that office for 25 years.
[00:13:48] Trenten: It's probably been remodeled once. I think the last first last remodel was probably 15 years ago.
[00:13:55] Jacob: Right. And he's like, it just doesn't feel lived in. Mind you, I haven't moved everything. There's no like file cabinets anywhere. Well, yeah, he's like it's empty files on the desks. Like if you want something, you have to go back into the back office that, you know, but it's a showroom. I've got people dropping off sixty, seventy thousand dollar cars and I want them to feel comfortable dropping their car off. You know, mind you, it was OK before and we've never had any issues.
[00:14:23] Trenten: But you're dropping off your expensive car. Do you want to drop your car off in a place that has like dirty brown
[00:14:28] Jacob: Carpet and walls that haven't been painted? Or do you feel more comfortable dropping your car off in a place that's like clean? Like I can keep my office clean. I can definitely clean your car. Right. Right. Well, that's the thing, though, is, you know, you guys are always working. You're always busting ass. So it's like in and out, you know, people with oil on them, people with grease on them, like dropping off the keys. Like I've been in there plenty of times. It's you guys, you get the work done, but there is an aspect like I agree. You know, there is an aspect where there's a lot of people who wouldn't mind having just like a simplified office to walk into and drop their keys off. Yeah. And you get to actually think straight. Like you're in there answering the phone 24 seven talking to people. And it's just great. It's a good thing for you to have a place to think straight.
[00:15:07] Trenten: Don't let the boys in the office anymore. They hate it, but it's like just open that door and yell at me. And I will be out there as soon as I can. I don't want your greasy feet on my brand new floors.
[00:15:18] Jacob: Like you guys outside there.
[00:15:21] Trenten: I redid the employee bathroom. So like they have a nice space to it's not like I'm just like, OK, nice.
[00:15:27] Jacob: You know, go down and use the other shop bathroom. Are you still not allowed to flush paper towels? It's such a strict rule that everybody should know that.
[00:15:36] Trenten: You don't flush paper towels. They don't I know. I was like, I was going to garbage. I always laughed at that sign in there because it's like, dude, you're such a dick if you flush paper towels anyway, I think.
[00:15:44] Jacob: Right. Like for those of you that don't know, we had a sign above my bathroom above the toilet in my office bathroom
[00:15:50] Trenten: That said, please do not flush paper towels. Do not flush paper towels because for some reason, everybody thinks that you just flush paper towels there.
[00:16:00] Jacob: Yeah. Who raised you, man? Come on. Give me a give me a for any listener
[00:16:05] Trenten: Who does not know what Clean Machine is or they're not from the area. Give me a low down and we could even go like, how did Clean Machine start? Because I don't even know that. Like what was the did your dad start it way back in the day?
[00:16:15] Jacob: Or. Yeah, I don't know.
[00:16:18] Trenten: It's my dad was a silent partner investor at one point in time in it for about two or three years. And then he just slowly bought more and more of the company
[00:16:29] Jacob: Until he was the only owner. But he was he pretty much owned the whole thing by like 95. I think he became involved in it in 86
[00:16:42] Trenten: And owned the whole thing by 95. I mean, that was they've always done kind of ill auto detail.
[00:16:51] Jacob: Did they start out selling cars as well as on that place?
[00:16:54] Trenten: Actually, crazy story. The person dad and his original business partner bought it from a guy with another guy. But it was a recovering addict who had gotten out of prison, opened up the business and he named it. Everyone thinks the Clean Machine is like a clean car. But the guy named it the Clean Machine because he was clean.
[00:17:16] Jacob: And Jesus machine.
[00:17:18] Trenten: So that's how that place got its name.
[00:17:21] Jacob: Epic. That's like you have to keep it. And that's actually like a funny.
[00:17:24] Trenten: Well, I mean, now it's like the Clean Machine, you know,
[00:17:26] Jacob: Right? You're a clean car kind of a thing. So but, yeah, I know when I when I heard that story the first time of why it was actually named that it was like, OK, I mean, at least, you know, it gets work done like just taking care of business. Yeah, that guy had actually opened it is still like he's does great.
[00:17:45] Trenten: A couple of other businesses. I think he's out of Colorado now. But he's still a Clean Machine. So Clean Machine. Yeah, cheers to him, man. But no, we started doing window tint five years ago.
[00:18:02] Jacob: And, you know, the used auto sales has always kind of been there.
[00:18:05] Trenten: But now we do auto detail, window tint, full vehicle, vinyl wraps, air light, wind shield, stuff like that, used auto sales and house financing. I mean, it's pretty much if it's got four wheels and a motor, you need something done to it, I can do it or if you need to buy it,
[00:18:23] Trenten: I can sell it. All right. Did you did you grow up like around cars? Like before Clean Machine was around and in your life, did you grow up around cars knowing a lot about cars? Well, I was probably five or six when dad was like fully into that place. So I mean, I grew up at the clean. I guess so, yeah. But before that, dad owned a paint booth, paint shop, auto body shop. So yeah, my whole life, I've been standing on cars or painting cars or fixing cars or pretty much been my whole. Yeah, you're definitely one of my go to friends where, like, you know, I have a couple of friends where it's like because I don't know shit about cars. Like I like to like naively think that I can figure it out for a few hours via YouTube before I hit you up. But I always hit you up. I'm like, Trent, I got this thing going on or I've got this weird sound or my heaters I'm not working to help. And I think about you, though, is you always want to help,
[00:19:15] Jacob: Which sometimes is a little frustrating because it's like, Jake, get out of my way. But I'll hold a mean flashlight, bro. Yeah, most of my friends are like, Hey, can I just drop my car off to you and you fix it? And you're like, Hey, come up to my house and bring your tools. I want you to show me how to fix this. Right. Yeah. That's nice. I don't have any problem helping my friends that are like wanting to help, but it's the friends that want to drop it off and make me fix their car. Right. I mean, if it's, you know, if it's a transactional, like, Hey, like, I'll pay you to do this, like, that's, you know, that's another thing if you don't have time to hang out. But there's dude being able to just hang out with your buddy. Like, like, OK, a situation like this, like where you can like we can have a couple of beers, we can hang out, work on the car, you know, bullshit, and you could like I can shut up and you could just kind of teach me about what you know. Like that's cool. That's a great thing to share and share sharing knowledge, man.
[00:20:02] Jacob: You know, and then the next time down the road, something breaks, because you might be a little bit more apt to be able to fix it yourself because you knew how this and this and this work. I took some notes. Always take notes. Yeah. Always.
[00:20:13] Trenten: So Clean Machine, you guys do auto detailing and selling cars.
[00:20:17] Jacob: I mean, you guys, everything that has to do with cars. What has it been like lately? Like the coronavirus. So did you guys obviously you shut like you're not going to be selling cars to be faced to right at the beginning coronavirus like so you shut down right beginning to right. Yeah. We tried to do appointment. Only. a little bit, but it just got to be a little bit like we try to do appointment. Like we try to do. Like we try to do appointment. My health. there was terrifying at the beginning. We're like, you're going to die. If you go outside, you're fucking dead. That's how I thought. You're over. It's it. You breathe anything to stay indoors.
[00:20:45] Trenten: So we quit doing.
[00:20:46] Jacob: We just shut down like.
[00:20:49] Trenten: Months, which. For me was. I mean, I'm a business owner. So business owners couldn't get unemployment. And then all of my employees I'm making way more on unemployment than they were making working for me. Because they got that like extra $600 a week.
[00:21:05] Jacob: Or something I think.
[00:21:06] Trenten: So I'm going through like always thought. I got enough money and savings. I'm going to be okay. . Then you start paying your bills. And you start buying groceries. With nothing else coming in. And you're home all, all day. себ you're also obviously. Shopping on Amazon. And you like buying car parts. Because of course me. I decided to build a 76 Corvette Stingray.
[00:21:25] Jacob: And while Corona virus is. Going and I have a lot of car parts, but. You know, buy three of everything.
[00:21:32] Trenten: So I know what I want for sure.
[00:21:34] Jacob: Of course. You got to switch it out and see what looks good. And so like your. Ground money that you think you have. Like I could, I could totally not work for six months and be fine. No, right. You could work for six weeks and then you're.
[00:21:46] Trenten: So it was a.
[00:21:49] Jacob: It was scary. But we open back up. For a day after they let everyone open back up. I wasn't even sure we were going to open. Because. I was still nervous about it. Like. Is it where I'm okay now? Like I've hustled. I sold my boat. I sold some car parts. I sold a few guns. Like I got money. I'm okay to go for another six weeks. Let's stay closed. But then you start getting like.
[00:22:15] Trenten: Phone calls from your big clients.
[00:22:17] Jacob: That hey, we need your work. We need you to do this. It's like, okay, well, do I lose my really big clients that keep bread on the table through the winter when we're slow or do I just say, yeah, let's wear a mask and go back to work.
[00:22:29] Trenten: So we went back to work, but.
[00:22:31] Jacob: Booked out like three weeks. Yeah. I just see like when it comes to like the jokes about haircuts and like I need my nails done and like all these people who have their regular things that they do, like people were starting to get very selfish and like. Cheesy and like loud about not having those things. I'm like, dude, you've got another person on the other side of that job that you want done for yourself.
[00:23:26] Trenten: You got to be a little more lenient. There's always people like that. And I mean, nothing against those people. That's how you get things done in your life. That's how you planner. Like you asked me what I'm doing six weeks from now. I'm going to have an exact time of date and like my mind out because I don't like chaos.
[00:23:45] Jacob: My, my brain cannot cooperate.
[00:23:48] Trenten: Like discipline equals freedom.
[00:23:51] Jacob: That's, what Draco willing says.
[00:23:53] Trenten: I mean, you can plan it and I still fall into that, like try to do things last minute. And then I realized that I've already told six people that I can do something and then now I'm letting six people down. So it's like, okay, let's just stick to the plan,
[00:24:31] Jacob: Write it all in a book.
[00:24:33] Trenten: They get good.
[00:24:36] Jacob: You have the people that call and say, call it. Bless you. They call it here folks. It happens to everybody. They call it noon and they say, oh, I need a full window to it today. But I'm going to take you a half hour, tound then it's like, oh, well when can you do it
[00:25:05] Trenten: Well, I want it done right now. I know you want it done right now, but I can do it in three weeks or I'll add you my it on tv and they're like, oh, I want my windows tinted. And then those people come back with stub windows windows and want me to fix it right now. And it's like, I'm still three weeks out and it's going to cost you twice as much money now because I have to fix Joe Schmo who did it in his garage is mess up. We do, we detach at ourselves a lot from stuff like that. Like, I'm going here to get this and I want it now. Like, I think that like, our society gets so much momentum that like,
[00:26:04] Jacob: I was thinking like, you know, imagine like the rude customer at Starbucks. Like, they just have so much momentum. Like they're not going out of their way to be a dickhead to the person on the counter. But like if they're being rude or short or whatever, it's because they're because they're probably like, you know, they just send a bunch of emails, they just got off the phone, they've got momentum, they've got meetings later, whatever it is, like people get so much momentum that they sometimes or often forget to slow down and be like, Oh, it's another human being, it's a human man, this is a person. and they've got a life too. They've been struggling just as much as I have in my nose. And you know, love is a terrible word in this situation, but I love that about the coronavirus about what we have done as a society because of the coronavirus is it's like, Hey man, whatever you got going on, like tough luck because everybody's got you suffered the last few months. Like that's awful. And I wish that you didn't a hundred percent. Like I'm so sorry for you like I wouldn't wish it on anybody, but also everybody else suffered right along with you in their own way.
[00:27:08] Jacob: And I think it's, you know, and that's not. Not even like I'm not trying to be aggressive about that. I think that's something that we all have to stop ourselves. And remember, you know, I get caught up in my momentum too. I go in and I've got this thing to do and this thing to do and this thing to do. It's got to happen at this time. ante and like you go to a place and they don't have what you need. And so you're kind of a dick about it. Like, you got to stop yourself and be like, Oh, this is a human. There's a human being behind this counter. And they've got whole business to worry about. Like I'm not, you know, so you guys are taking new clients.
[00:27:40] Trenten: What has been what has been so fluid as far as DJing and events and weddings and stuff.
[00:27:49] Jacob: How has that been because that's been a whole, you know, for me,
[00:27:56] Trenten: Like, Jake,, you don't work anymore. Where's your old voicemail where it was like you sliding down the slide.
[00:28:01] Jacob: It's still my voicemail.
[00:28:04] Trenten: If you call my fluid is this. Yeah. If you call my phone, I won't answer just because I want everybody to listen to my voicemail.
[00:28:09] Jacob: That has been my voicemail. So it was like middle school when I first got a phone, I thought that it was funny to say that, Hey, it's Jake. You're like, I'm sliding down the slide right now. I'm going to call you back. And then like later in life, I added the sound effects. Re-vamped it and Do we need to call your phone on speaker phone to hear your voicemail?
[00:29:21] Trenten: We're going to bartend those events and then later down the road, we're going to own a bar so we can employ all of those like giving away my business plan.
[00:29:28] Jacob: So if anybody wants this as copyrighted and you have to send me a check. Yeah, send the check. But like we're going to own a bar and then we're going to own an event coordinating company. It kind of, I don't own the bar yet and I don't own an event coordinating company,
[00:29:41] Trenten: But we DJ and bartend events. You've been doing your work, man.
[00:29:45] Jacob: We're getting there. So
[00:29:51] Trenten: We do private events, mobile bartending. We have liquor licenses in Oregon and Idaho working on Washington. Got to own that bar to get the Washington liquor license,
[00:30:05] Jacob: But we do private events.
[00:30:08] Trenten: Bring the bartenders, bring the kegs. We do full flair style bartending through a bottles blow fire. Yeah, I don't know what flair is. I think that's like actually a very cool part that you always breeze over. Flair. So, you know, I mean, Flair bartending Vegas, like Flippy Morris, for example, if you Google Flippy Morris and he's a flair bartender, they throw the bottles, blow the fire. I mean, it's like Carnival Court in Vegas and we do all that. You order a special drink and you get an entertainment and you get a show. It's like exciting. Like, I'm pumped to take this drink. I was lucky enough that when I first started bartending, we had a guy named Greg Black and he, he's my bar dad. The biggest blessing I ever had was meeting Greg when I first started bartending.
[00:31:27] Jacob: And so yeah, we do fire shows. We'll blow fire, light a bottle on fire, throw the flaming bottle around, blow fireballs at people and that's, you know, that's what we do.
[00:31:40] Trenten: And then we'll DJ weddings, DJ events, and it's just fluid industries. There's always more and more coming, but that's kind of our thing. It's my side gig, but it's my true passion. Like it's the, I love the Clean Machine. I love selling cars, but talk to me about fluid and it's going to bring a smile on my face. And I'm stoked about it. So that's my long-term plan.
[00:32:04] Jacob: Right., yeah. I mean, you've been building it for a while. So what is, so what's been different for you guys? So obviously, you know, events of more than any amount of people at first were like, like, you're not getting together with less than 50 people. So you probably had a bunch of cancellations just as I did. Yeah. I mean, the last two months, I was like, and you know, like I've talked to you and Kells and stuff about this, like, you know, this is my year.
[00:32:30] Trenten: I'm getting back into DJing.
[00:32:32] Jacob: Fluid does quite a few events. Didn't you buy a new laptop like less than a year ago, a new laptop? I've got the new, I've got the new DDJ 1000, like switched over to record box, like ready to, the world was not ready to stop.. No, thanks. The world just wasn't ready for me. That's probably what happened. Honestly, they're like, shit, this guy, he got a new controller.
[00:32:56] Trenten: It's too hot fire. Shut it down. Shut it down. Shut it down. I'm like, the bad day of all the wolves. But I was like, this is my year. I'm. I'm jumping back in. I was like, I'm gonna have all this extra money. Like I'm gonna do all this cool stuff. And then coronavirus hit and it was like, There was two months where I had a wedding every weekend. In some weekends, I had two weddings, probably a little bit of a stretch for myself.
[00:33:26] Jacob: But I was ready. Like I was just jumping back in and within a week and a half every single job canceled. So you're talking four weekends, two months, eight weekend. I mean, 20 jobs within a week and a half. And it just got to the point where I was so depressed that I just quit answering my phone like I left a voicemail and part of my. voicemail said, your wedding just send me a text message.
[00:33:52] Trenten: Like I couldn't handle it. I was like, I've been crying a lot on the.
[00:33:57] Jacob: The phone, please leave a message. I haven't dealt with like depression, super bad for a long time. But the first two or three weeks of Corona closing the machine.
[00:34:10] Trenten: Having fluid closed, like being stuck at home.
[00:34:15] Jacob: I'm not a homebody.
[00:34:16] Trenten: Like I like I'm a personality.
[00:34:19] Jacob: Like I thrive on being around people. Like I thrive on if I walk into a room of 100 people when I walk out of that room. 99 of those people are going to be my best friend.
[00:34:30] Trenten: Like I love that about you, man.
[00:34:31] Jacob: So I thrive on that.
[00:34:33] Trenten: I mean, it's not even almost an addiction. Like I love being around people. So coronavirus it and it's like me and I love my girlfriend. But me and my two dogs and my girlfriend just locked at home forever. After a while, it's like getting a little spacey. Yeah, I need I need people. I need I need to be able to talk to someone going nuts. Let's plan. Let's be able to plan our future even like. Yeah. So I mean that the depression that hit me from that was just like, yeah.
[00:34:59] Jacob: Okay, I've got to find a new outlet, which that turned into a building that Corvette we were talking about. That was kind of like my it was in my garage and I hadn't touched it.
[00:35:10] Trenten: And it was a perfectly good running car. So I mean, what better the tear apart than a perfectly good running car.
[00:35:16] Jacob: Doesn't run. No, did this did that actually like help? Like do you, like, because I think that like, you know, of course, avoidance. Like of like trying to not fill your depression, trying to not fill your. , I need that. And you need to pay attention to that. But I. I think that, you know, diving into something that you love challenging yourself, learning a new skill, like these things are something that can really pull people out of depression and depressive states or depressive moods or, you know, because, you know, we all, the word depression. And we all think of it as something like we, we have. It's so hard to get, because it's so squeaking.
[00:35:56] Trenten: That's super cute. It's almost like your voicemail. I know we said that a couple, but yeah.
[00:36:01] Jacob: So. So, you know, whether, whether we identify with being depressed or I have a depression, like I think so many people, they feel a little reluctant to say they have depression because they haven't been to the doctor and they don't want to you know, disregard. Disregard other people who have been to the doctor and they got diagnosed with it, on the side of diving into something that you love is like seriously a healing thing. And I just imagine that you're probably on this on the same page. So do you, remember did it seem like it was kind of like, of course the world's burning, right? You know, the shit's still goingt bad, but I didn't talk to you much during this time when you were building the Corvette. So did it feel like it was. Fulfilling and helped. Oh, absolutely. And I mean, you know, for me, depression,
[00:36:48] Trenten: An addict being an alcoholic, you know, like, I think all of those things for me,
[00:36:53] Jacob: I'm, I'm like living in restoration. And so for me, like building a car and building that car and taking it
[00:37:03] Trenten: Apart was, I've always kind of like, if you're an addict, you're always an addict. But you you're like restored to being not an addict, even though in the background, you still are, but you're restored and you're living in recovery. So for me, like building a car is such a sensual, like feeling of I'm going to restore this car and I'm going to bring it back.
[00:37:27] Jacob: And it's going to be, it's still going to be the same as like, you know, it's still going to be that 76 Corvette that it's always been, but. But now it's going to run great. And it's going to be better. And it's going to be stronger. . And yes, it's still going to be that same thing, but now it's restored. And then it gets to get to the recovery and live in restoration. Yeah, it's going to need basic maintenance and like basic oil changes and stuff. But for me, like building a car is so symbolic of,
[00:37:57] Trenten: Like, my journey through. You got to pause this thought right here, because it's pouring and I left that window open. I need another beer. anyway. All right, we're back in it. So we were talking about restoring a car and I also think that I think that I don't know it's from experience. Obviously, I haven't restored a car. I couldn't. I mean, I might be able to like screw headlight back on if it's broken. I don't know. But no, you should get I wish I had video.
[00:38:24] Jacob: But it also creates this. It really creates a new story out of something that you didn't really have a story from. So it's like, yeah, oh, I bought this car or I got this car from so and so like that's a story. But now when someone's like, hey, you know, that's a nice car. That's a nice vet. Like what's up with it? You can tell this story. You can now have this what it is opens a portal into new conversations. So if you see a guy who just loves that, what year is it? 76. 76. So if you see a guy who's like, I love 76. That's my fucking year. And he sees you in the parking lot. And he's like, hey, his mullet, his marbles rolled up in his sleeve.
[00:39:07] Trenten: He's driving El Camino. He's driving El Camino.
[00:39:10] Jacob: It says, what's up, young man? No, but I, you know, it really is cool.
[00:39:14] Trenten: Like it's how you can. I just believe in meeting people on the same ground where we can.
[00:39:23] Jacob: You, you, you, you, you, you. And honestly, like I didn't, it was a great, I mean the paint was fine. It was, mostly I put fuel injection on it and rewired it and did some stuff like that. But it was kind of the kind of car that every panel you took off on the interior and it's still that same car that it's always was
[00:40:30] Trenten: But now it's gonna be better. And it's a basic maintenance again like I said
[00:40:34] Jacob: But it's restored and living in recovery which for me, it's kind of where I've been at. Who, who I was, who I was definitely had a part in who I am now, but I'm not who I was
[00:40:51] Trenten: And every day I'm growing further it.
[00:40:55] Jacob: Yeah, what's been yours? You talk about restoration. How is this super comparative? Like how is, how is your life different now than it was before? How is your, how is your thought process different? Cause like, you know, you know, you know years back I don't know that you would have, we would have seen like this project as like, oh, this is representative of my life. This is beautiful. I think this is cool. Like it was, and I want to, you know we can dip back into there, you know it's a mental, it's a mental health wellbeing podcast
[00:41:26] Trenten: So we can talk about depression. How did you, so when you started the feeling depressed
[00:41:33] Jacob: You feel, like you're aware, like I deal with depression. I know I deal with, you know, sadness, anxiety, whatever.
[00:41:41] Trenten: And coronavirus comes up. It starts popping up for you in your life in whatever ways that is. How did you, what's the mindset like to where like
[00:41:52] Jacob: You get something new or you, you, you know, like I'm going to work on this and I know that it's going to help me. Like it's, did you know at the beginning or was it just something you tried to just be productive try to keep going? Oh, I mean, I needed a distraction. And I mean, growing up in the car business I've always had cars or stuff to work on. So it was, I knew it was a good distraction
[00:42:14] Trenten: Of something that I needed.
[00:42:16] Jacob: And it's just a good distraction because, you know, honestly with being,
[00:42:30] Trenten: You know, those, I'm a recovering addict I wouldn't say that I was like a severe head to do it every day, but very social act.
[00:42:40] Jacob: You know, drinking or partying or doing stuff like that and so for me like when all of a sudden this stuff happens and nothing's going on and you can't be around anything
[00:42:49] Trenten: You're very much desires to, okay, let's,
[00:42:52] Jacob: Let's do some cocaine or let's get drunk
[00:42:56] Trenten: And cocaine, cocaine is something I haven't like
[00:42:59] Jacob: That demon is gone for me.
[00:43:01] Trenten: It's not a battle to deal with.
[00:43:03] Jacob: Like it's not something, like I even, I even used to think like when I first quit,, like, oh well, every now and then I'll just do it for fun.
[00:43:11] Trenten: Like once every now, no, no. That's what I thought too, but like it's been years now
[00:43:15] Jacob: For me
[00:43:16] Trenten: I mean, it's been like two years. Yeah and it's like, I was like, it was something clicked with me when it comes to that particular drug.
[00:43:24] Jacob: I was like, it just wasn't desirable. Like I was like, you know, if it comes up again like we'll, we'll see how it goes and you know, we'll do maybe one or two little whatever. But now I'm just like, I just don't have,
[00:43:36] Trenten: I don't have a desire for it. h. And this yeary thing for me with Corona was like, oh, I thought about wanting to dump back into that because there's no happiness, I don't have that happiness. So now you were able to recognize that's not the best thing for me. That's not something I'm going back to you ever. I think it's not. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. So, so, so right here, what if you had to dig it up in like
[00:44:02] Jacob: If you had to like be like, what is it that's different now before that? Like how is it? I want to see if we can catch people off guard in their own stuff. How is it that you're able to be like, you know what, I think I want to do a little bit of this and it'll make me feel better. And now you're like, but I know that's not the best thing for me. But before a few years back, you know, we like, you know, we'd be like, oh, yeah, that's the best right. You know, you don't think about it. It's I guess I'm asking like what like how do you how do you find the awareness of like, speck? Hey, this isn't going to help me. This is a short term. This is a BAND-AID. This is a band. This is trying to just feel good right now so deal with it. Well, if you think about it, if you think about it, sitting in this basement in this podcast, you think how many nights do you think how many nights? Plenty. I mean, before I had like a remodeled down here. What's difference between a sick bird and an illegal?
[00:44:59] Jacob: How many hours do we spend on that? What a pointless conversation, but it was perplexing. What's the difference between illegal and unlawful? Oh, yeah, sick bird was the answer, but I mean, how many hours did we spend doing that stuff? And then, do you ever have a night where we had, and trust me, we had, and we had literally there's been that we've had you and me and other people that were life changing under the influence and high and doing those things.
[00:45:36] Trenten: And they changed the way I run my business in certain ways and they changed the way that I've done things.
[00:45:42] Jacob: But the next day, can you ever remember one next day and we're like, oh, I had this awesome idea or were you just a pile? No, it's just shame and depression and sadness and my fucking head hurts and my nose hurts and my butt and whatever happened there. I don't know. I've got allergies. I don't need my nose to hurt any worse. And I just, I can never remember a night or a day where even though there were some great ideas that came out of that, and there was a lot of creative minds and people and I think one of the biggest problems with most of us is we were all super depressed depressed and depression causes you to not like be open and honest about your dreams. And so doing drugs, we were like all of a sudden all of these creative minds that were not feeling depressed because you're happy as hell. Now we're talking about all these fantastic ideas. And for me and especially for you, like I see what you're doing these days. Like it's fantastic. You've finally been able to, that was the key to opening our minds at the time that was the key to stopping us from being depressed.
[00:46:49] Jacob: To let us actually say the words with our own mouths to be confident enough to say the things that we want to say with our own mouth with our own mouth rather than like hide in the corner and fortunately it took cocaine to do that. And am I proud of that? No.. You got any more though? No, because I am so much more confident in who I am and where I'm at because I know how big of a demon that was to beat. And it was harder for me than others or easier for me than others, but it's still a demon, you know, and so now it's, like, not having that. And I think that, it restricted my brain because when you do that, like, that's an amazing feeling that you're never going to be ableing able to replicate, not on drugs. I'm sorry, for those that have done it. You're still getting that dopamine release, man. Yeah, like the amount of dopamine, but the problem is, the next day you're not getting that same amount and it's like with, you know, reduced the amount of dopamine your body can even produce.
[00:47:47] Jacob: So, for the next week, or even two weeks after doing it, or depending on how long you're doing it, for how many periods of time, like, your body is just not the same. So you feel like you can't establish that amazing feeling. , because you're never going to feel that much joy. It almost sets you back more. Because you're never going to feel that joy of, it felt so great when I did this and I did the same thing, not on drugs, not on drugs and didn't feel as good. So it's setting you back and it's creating a unrealistic expectation for how great things are supposed to feel like the highlights of your life, like the great things of your life. They're not going to feel that same way because you didn't have like drugs the drugs in your body that make you feel better. Right. Because the stupidest, even the stupidest things feel like the biggest achievements in the world when you're high. Right.
[00:48:45] Trenten: So it's an unreal expectation. And now I, I'm at a point with my life where I don't have that unrealistic expectation. Yeah, I knew how great that felt, but I also know that it was because of the drugs that it felt that great.
[00:48:58] Jacob: And I, I could just get my joy other places, like I get excited about other things, you know, it's, I don't expect anything to feel that great, because I know it's possible. Right. Yeah, I mean, dude, life, we kind of just look at life in an incorrect way when it comes to. That stuff like it's, you know, drinking, for example, like if you're going to get hammered on Saturday night. Well, what you're doing, say you're getting hammered on Saturday night and you're staying up late.
[00:49:24] Trenten: I'm going to keep drinking less party. What you're doing is you're, at some point, you're like, okay, I'm borrowing happiness from tomorrow.
[00:49:31] Jacob: 100% borrowing happiness from tomorrow. Like two different gauges. One's going up because you're turning up in your party, but tomorrow's gauge is just slowly going. It's a clutch, man. It's going in and out. And then, you know, and we also detach ourselves from the like, like the days and weeks, if not after of, of like putting your body through. Like, you know, just party and go into your heart.
[00:49:58] Trenten: Like, just that recovery time is hard enough. Like, I remember I started doing, I started doing Molly at a young age. I think I was, I think I was still in high school and doing Molly is that forever has never done Molly.
[00:50:13] Jacob: It's MD, ecstasy. Um, well, so, so ecst, it's derived from MDMA and then ecstasy, essentially is a pressed pill that adds, because I was, and this was when I was very naive,
[00:50:46] Trenten: LSD as well. . I didn't hear about Molly. Oh yeah. One of my buddies is actually on a government program right.
[00:50:53] Jacob: Right now for micro dosing LSD. Literally he started a year and a half ago. . And since he started, he has not had any. Dude, the amount, the percentage of people. So LSD, psilocybin, MDMA, the results for these are literally like 85%, 80% of people like never get the symptoms again. Or they're able to like, like, reasonably deal with the course of the next year. Like maybe they'll have like kind of a rough year afterwards because they're like, okay, I see where I need to work on things and blah슷. But the results after a while have been fantastic.. But so for me, when I first started doing it, I was just young and dumb. And the next day because it depletes your body of dopamine and everything else that you did, serotonin.
[00:51:39] Trenten: And you're not able to like. Basically, you're not really able to like create your own happiness a sense.
[00:52:17] Jacob: I would just be so sad. And the thing now, like when I look back on it, and I knew that it obviously, oh, I knew it was chemicals. I knew that like whatever, but I was had this like distance from it. Like I wasn't able to like really think and like, okay, I'm a me like I am literally chemicals and just crazy. I'm a science experiment, all of like our bodies when you are depleting your body of these things that are how your reality is made.
[00:52:54] Trenten: Feeling happiness is a chemical reaction. Like it's when you rip that from your own body the night before as much as you possibly can.
[00:53:03] Jacob: It's fantastic. It's beautiful. But when you have to go back to like your homeostasis the next day, you're not super proud.
[00:53:09] Trenten: Super pumped and you're not right path.
[00:53:14] Jacob: Whatever. Like it's going to hurt because you don't have that extra little there's no power given to that voice the next day that says like
[00:53:21] Trenten: Like, okay, you're feeling sad, but it's okay.
[00:53:23] Jacob: But you just you know, I'm going to die. I should do that. Like you have this like this version of you the next day that is the chemicals that you need to be reasonable. Rockstar, cranberry juice, not enough rock star in the.
[00:53:46] Trenten: In the world that's going to change that. Although I did try every energy drink that's ever been out.
[00:53:52] Jacob: I just loved energy drinks back then, too.
[00:53:54] Trenten: Oh boy.
[00:53:55] Jacob: I mean, anything that you think like I think was the after much caffeine and as much nicotine as possible.
[00:54:01] Trenten: I still felt.
[00:54:02] Jacob: Right. You know, for me, I was so embarrassed of being that person that used to do. You know, and I've since?
[00:54:15] Trenten: God, I'm going to church and everyone has, you know, you're more on the spiritual level these days than you used to be.
[00:54:22] Jacob: And I found God. But I don't want to breeze over that either. I want to actually loop back and talk about that, too. Okay.. But so for me like to find God was like I was so embarrassed.
[00:54:34] Trenten: Of these people that in the church of them to know who I was or what I've done.
[00:54:42] Jacob: Right. Like I didn't want to know that I did. I used to do cocaine or that I used to be an alcoholic part of your.
[00:54:51] Trenten: You're human and you messed up. I didn't. Well, that's the biggest mantra with like a lot of churches as you see is and that's why people are scared to the church is because of that like judgmental. But it's not. It's about finding the right church and like the church. The first time I went like the pastor had said most churches expect you to believe and then they expect you to behave and then they let. Let you belong and the first it was just like the perfect storm of a day for me to go because I got there and like one of the first things in his He goes at my church. You belong. You're here. You belong once you start to believe is when I will start to expect you to behave like but you belong. You have to do nothing here. You belong. This is God's house and you belong. Like I was still fucking off and partying and someone had said something about a buddy that a guy who's one of my mentors now. He had said, you know, I didn't go to church when I was younger.
[00:56:13] Trenten: He was the difference between my friends that went to church when I was younger and me was they had to get up early on Sunday and go to church with a hangover. And he goes to church now and he's totally like different person.
[00:56:50] Jacob: I can just stop whenever I want.
[00:56:54] Trenten: But like the going to church thing was that was embarrassing.
[00:56:59] Jacob: I didn't want people to know.
[00:57:01] Trenten: And then I finally got to that point where totally comfortable like I will talk about it with anybody did something last night about now maybe not want to talk about my addiction or whatever because of the Clean Machine and stuff but. I feel like once you're at that point recovery where you are over it and you are better. I'll bring them on. I'll talk about it with anybody. That's beautiful. If anybody judges me because of it.
[00:57:26] Jacob: I'm talking to him. Yeah, it's like completely confident. Yeah, let's talk about it. I'll tell you. You know, so after that for a while I got into youth ministry now like I do youth ministry. I love it. I love it. Can you explain to me what this is? What youth ministry is? I mean, I know generally. Yeah, like youth groups, youth leadership, helping kids find God, helping kids, you know, create a relationship with God.
[00:57:51] Trenten: Helping kids like disciple and mentor other. Other kids into knowing God and how to know God. It's just youth guidance basically helping kids that even God and have a relationship with God grow in their faith. Right. And they have someone else that they can kind of relate to in a different way. I mentor kids and I disciple a couple of different kids. One of the kids I haven't done much lately because of Corona. But like one of the kids, I mean, his, his parents know everything about who I was and what I am.
[00:58:25] Jacob: And they're totally comfortable with it. And then I'm sure there are some parents that might hear this and be worried about me being around their kid. But it's like in this area, in this county and where we live in, like you need someone that can recognize those cues and see someone going down the wrong path. I was always just like for a long time embarrassed, like I didn't want the kids or their parents to know who I was.
[00:58:49] Trenten: But I think once you get to that point with addiction, where you know you've truly beaten it, where you know you're over it, like where you know, yes, I will always be an addict, but I'm past it. That becomes a point where you're like open to talk about it and willing to talk about it because it only creates inspiration and helps other people like not embarrassed of it at all.
[00:59:11] Jacob: What do you want to know? Right. I tell you everything I want to know if you want to judge me because of who I am or who I used to be. That's your fault. Judge me because of who I am and where I used to be at made me, you know, who I am today. Right. Made you stronger. I think, I think it's a it's cool to talk about too because, you know, I bring it up like so when I text you, I usually with my podcast guests, whether I know them super well or not. I usually try to make sure that they're not walking into a, you know, into a firefight of sorts like I have.
[00:59:44] Trenten: So I had, I don't, I don't know if I'd talk about this on here, but I essentially I had, I had an episode where I had a friend who like she came and she was talking about her addictions and she was telling me this. And she was telling me this. She was, it was Jordan Crayon episode, I think 14 or something, 15, 16, but I hadn't seen her for a while and we were catching up and I didn't know all these things that had happened. And she tells me about how she was homeless and she was raped and she was addicted to drugs and her story, her story. And as she was telling me, I was like, oh my gosh, I would hate for me to not set up the correct ground for you to stand on for this. And she was like, oh my gosh, I'll take this. Like my like, I'm depressed and here's what happened in my life and here's my trauma that happened and here's what I'm like working through. Like so I essentially with the podcast when it comes to like guests, I never want my guest to be caught off guard or look silly or alone or look.
[01:00:47] Jacob: These conversations are vastly important to talk about, you know, but there's no room for them like we don't talk like this like in regular life. We don't know how to do it. We don't know how to relate to people. We don't know how to change our like gossip into last night and text. I'm like, hey, you know, if there's things that you don't want to bring up, if there's things that like are too edgy, let me know.
[01:01:19] Trenten: That's fine.
[01:01:42] Jacob: What about that? But you know what? Here's the thing. There's going to be people that are going to judge you always no matter where you're at in life. I don't care if you're a millionaire, have all the money in the world or you're broke poor and don't have nothing. There's going to be people that are always going to judge you. And so, you know what?
[01:01:59] Trenten: My thing was maybe one of the parents hears this podcast and doesn't want me around their kid because I was an addict or I did things.
[01:02:06] Jacob: I'm not that anymore.
[01:02:08] Trenten: I will not ever be that again.
[01:02:10] Jacob: I've learned. And you know what? The only things that I can help your child avoid and recognize well before you will ever see them. Because guess what? During all that, nobody knew I was doing that until it got to a point where I was super open about it. And the same thing is you like the gossip. I mean, how many times do you remember hearing people talk about you and me being the Coke boys or the Coke addicts or the people that partied and Coke and didn't want to be around us because we did did that really only once. But I don't really like listen to what other people have to say anyway.
[01:02:41] Trenten: I've heard it more often than not. Like a lot of times from just people, from me and like rumors people have about me. Like when I lost a bunch of weight, I must have been doing drugs. Well, I mean, we also have to recognize that we will live like if the exact same situation., situation was happening and like say we grew up in Portland. Like people would be like, okay, that's that guy. it's a big small town and it's like it keeps these high school clicks for a way too fucking long right after high school.
[01:03:10] Jacob: Like this like gossip bullshit. Like I heard this person to this like it's just toxic. Dude, here's the thing that I you know what I've discovered. Like just on a personal level is like, I don't know shit.
[01:03:22] Trenten: I don't know.
[01:03:23] Jacob: I didn't ask to be born.
[01:03:25] Trenten: Nobody did dude. Like I'm just trying to figure out my fucking life. And sometimes I fuck up, but I'm really trying not to and I'm trying to do what's best.
[01:04:03] Jacob: Like I'm concerned about you. Yeah. Is there anything I can do? Right. Oh, if somebody would have done that to me, I don't know, three years ago. Because listen, listen, man, like when you're when you're when you're partying too much when you drink it too much, you do in too many drugs. You're just not on your shit, right? Like it's because you're not feeling pain, right?
[01:04:23] Trenten: Just like all other humans.
[01:04:25] Jacob: We don't want to fucking feel pain, man.
[01:04:27] Trenten: We just want love. Everybody just wants love.
[01:04:30] Jacob: And if you if you trace back a lot of people's like, you know, whether it's their childhood trauma, whether it's what their parents taught them. And it just really doesn't make sense how the world actually works. Whether it's, you know, someone hurt them at a younger age. It's not the life that was handed to them. And it seems to me we're, you, you know, we're getting older and we just get wiser and older and you have more reason to be more reasonable. You know, you know, you know, we're just so many, everybody has different beliefs, but we're all just trying to figure as like, oh yeah,, like you're just, you're like, man, like what did aliens drop us off here? Like, did, did, you know, like, we just don't know, like, they're just so many. Everybody has different beliefs, but we're all just trying to figure it out is what I'm trying to say. Like, we're all just trying to figure it out. And at one point in time, I went and saw a counselor. Yeah. Because I was concerned about myself and I've always as much as people. As much as people like to say, Oh, what anybody thinks. I don, I don't care. Bullshit. You care what somebody else thinks.
[01:05:44] Jacob: Everything we do as humans is, is because we want to know what someone else thinks, you know, and there's people that, oh, I don't give a shit.
[01:05:53] Trenten: Fuck it. Whatever. I don't care what anybody else thinks. No, you're doing all that because you want people to think that you don't care what they think, but you really do. The thing is they don't even realize that at that time.
[01:06:03] Jacob: Yeah. Well, I mean, I mean, Well, one of the questions. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, you know, and it's also if you look at like the older I get, the more I'm able to like, if I had two pieces of paper in in front of me or paper with two columns, it's like, what, what I felt at that moment happened and then on the right side, let's say I write, like what actually happened and what actually happened wasn't like the parents, like, like whatever the parents version of reality is. That's what you write on the right side. It's like, no, no, like.
[01:07:36] Trenten: Things are so sensitive when we're young. I always use this example like you could be terrified of snakes as a 35 year old woman because when you were six, some dude with a snake on his shirt yell that you too loud. No, I'm a, I'm snakes to the 29 year old man. Did and all when you were six, did someone yell at you and they had a snake shirt. I have no idea what my mom, that's what I'm saying. Like three pet bow constrictors that I would play with all the time at love, but I see a gardener snake in my yard and I'm jumping on top of my lawn mower a reptile guy.
[01:08:07] Jacob: Like they're cool to look at and they fascinate me, but I don't you know, I don't want to touch him.
[01:08:11] Trenten: I don't want to touch him.
[01:08:13] Jacob: You got a bit of be handsome. We're smart. it's a it's been it hasn't been bad at all her like softness and sweetness towards me, is unprecedented, like she
[01:08:33] Trenten: Anything that is gonna like make Jay Capy there's like willing to do like but it's a it's a lot of like work for like forced work for me because I'll notice when I'm being a baby or when I'm dissociating or when I because like a lot of times like so for me I have to notice being so disconnected from my
[01:08:50] Jacob: Family and being like I have don't you guys realize how black sheep I really am like I'm nothing like any of you so I have that into like so anytime she says we or she tries to tell me about like so anytime she says we or she tries to tell me about like so anytime she says we or she tries to tell me about like so anytime I like so anytime she says we or she tries to, so there's like so anytime she says we or she tries to tell me about like so anytime with a ton of like connectivity to like fall back onto and so it was just like by the time I was okay I'm very different so just go into so funny he's really squeaking both toys at once like he's putting his door will be shut the great name. He will literally come into the house to rope toys and I stuffed animal all in his mouth and like have them just like okay I'm ready to b
[01:11:21] Trenten: Because I got all three. I'll get them all. We can throw all three of them. We play fetch with my dog with a volleyball that's fully inflated and he has no problem with that. Yeah or like a bowling ball. How much.
[01:11:30] Jacob: Much is your, dog waytrend? 165 is somewhere in there. It's just so much for a dog to weigh like he's not fat. He's a great day. Like you could say I'm all I love to ride him. Do you have just ride him like around the block? What if like someone who hasn't seen you since let's say 10th grade of high school and they just they just they just see this guy riding a big old great day and down. It shouldn't be highway skinnier than 10th grade high school. So I mean that's I'm still skinnier than my high school days but I'm fat again so okay so what do we leave off on
[01:12:10] Trenten: We don't have to we just clip it together. We left off. Oh we're talking about just church and addiction and youth group and stuff. Yeah. Okay so I want to I actually want to talk about church I church because church and spirituality. We've had a few a few good conversations about this. I love like you and I are able to like we're very different but we like understand each other very well. That's why we've been such close friends for
[01:12:41] Jacob: So long. I think you know most. People that have differing opinions on things don't want to listen to the other side but we're due and I have multiple differing opinions. I'm always willing to listen to you. Take what you have to say and maybe research on it a little bit. He was right. It wasn't lying to me and I think you do the same thing. Do your own research and yeah I mean I'm always just trying to figure out like because I feel like when you when you had for lack of a
[01:13:07] Trenten: Less elegance and stumbled into church and you know I had I had found like spirituality and for me like I found it through being by myself 100% by myself and just watching hours and hours of YouTube videos. Tons of CBD tons of yoga tons of weed tons of like hypnosis like I essentially have be finding God was nowhere near that hard bro. You just had to walk into the church no but um so for me okay so when it comes to the even the word God I want to go broad on this so for growing up I feel like from what I remember my family was like bikers so and that's no religion spirituality it was it was made fun of of more than anything from what I remember I don't know if it was like it's not like my family like actively every Sunday we set out to make fun of everybody who believes in something but from what I remember as like a young kid lens right is like religion and spirituality and God is like if you can write it off as saying
[01:14:20] Jacob: Oh you think a man just lives in the sky you're an idiot enough of okay it doesn't make Francine ever like really question it never really thought about it. But you know once I started like getting better and sort of like just like realizing like dude what the fuck is happening like why am I why am I doing things I don't want to do. Why am I having such bad depression like what's going like what do I want out of life like one day I'm gonna die and what do I want to. To have in between now and then I started just kind of like learning about more and learning about philosophy and learning about. For me it was a lot of like learning about the.
[01:14:55] Trenten: Like for me so spirituality to me my connection I think a lot came through like nature and stuff just essentially that I had never like thought super intricately about what I was right about like this like.
[01:15:11] Jacob: Meat sack of like just. You know like I have emotions right and I have like I can move my right arm and like I never really thought about like what's consciousness what's how did how did I get here and blah like. And there's all these stories that like I would hear and I would listen to and I'm like well you know the click for me. But I never really gave him like the time of day I guess so for me stumbling it into my own way because of the way that I found it I'm never trying to push my way but I know that me finding something bigger than myself something more important than fucking Jake Ryan's changed my life you know and I think that's like you know at the heart of a lot of what might start people so I always want to encourage people trying to. To like start down their path like whatever you believe hell yeah man like I like I have nothing I'm not saying that what I believe is right or wrong. I'm not saying that what you believe is right or wrong like it to anybody I'm saying like if you can find something that makes you feel.
[01:16:19] Jacob: Filled it makes you feel whole it makes you feel like you belong it makes you allows you to look inside yourself but also be forgiving and. You know gentle with yourself like this word without some sort of like structure or value or something to point at you of like it's going to be OK like that little that little voice that's like when you're really low. That doesn't always kick in but sometimes it'll be like a man let's not do that or whatever it is like I just I want to support anybody and whatever their version is and again also I want to say I want to say. Just out of respect I don't mean to be dismissive about your beliefs if that's what it seems so I want to say that I. Just want to encourage people to like find what you believe in or find what like seems like it makes your life a little bit better and just explore it and it doesn't have to be. You know obviously some of the way else and what our time frame is how long of a podcast. Fuck you and I could go about eight hours but.
[01:17:49] Trenten: We do five our podcast.
[01:17:51] Jacob: So far people listen to like.
[01:17:53] Trenten: And they love it like I think kind of where you and I through our drug fueled alcohol fueled things like came upon this like ripple which a lot of people don't understand the ripple but like it was just our way of describing what we the change we need by just being us and just like the one drop in the
[01:18:41] Jacob: Water. My grandpa was Catholic my grandma's Catholic like I've always been in and out of churches and I've always kind of felt like God is what's going to save me or what's going to help me but I've been to gosh before I found Exodus I was in probably 1314 different
[01:19:03] Trenten: Wow and like would go to them when I lived in Idaho and just walk in and just feel like, instantly shunned or and you know and that's a. A lot of the old style old churches like the very last church that I tried to go to before Exodus I walked up and this chain I wear it's my grandpa's chain and it's my grandma and grandpa's wedding rings. And some guy walked up to me and said, why are you young kids always got to change. It was like, this is my grandfather who is my best friend that passed. But you don't have to fucking explain that to some random dude. I didn't explain it to him like it was either punch him in the face or walk out and I just walked out.
[01:19:46] Jacob: Whatever. But I like it explained earlier like walking into Exodus.
[01:19:50] Trenten: Like you belong.
[01:19:52] Jacob: If you believe we expect you to behave. When I found that it was just the God's grace like God. There's somebody don't remember who says it but there's a saying that says like once you get to heaven. Surprised by who is there with you and I don't I obviously like God has a there's a hard line on. Believe you're not believing in and whatnot but it's a relationship with God that's getting you to heaven. And it's like knowing God and having God know you. The people that we're going to see in heaven are going to surprise us.
[01:20:36] Trenten: I don't necessarily think it's. I think there's going to be people that never went to church day in their lives that are going to be there. I think there's going to be people that are super devout Christians that have always trusted and honored God that are going to be there.
[01:20:51] Jacob: But I think you know a lot of things that we expect about it are just not correct.
[01:20:56] Trenten: And for me it was just God's grace.
[01:21:01] Jacob: God gives us grace through everything. No matter what I did no matter how shitty of a person I was no matter how bad I treated other people. Like God loved me no matter what all of that.
[01:21:15] Trenten: And for me that was like all right. If he loves me that much through all this and all of the bad things I've done. Let's be a person and see how much he loves me.
[01:21:26] Jacob: Let's help other people. And you said it earlier. I said it earlier and I there is there's kids that grow up in religion and I've always said that I wish that I would have had this.
[01:21:42] Trenten: But that their entire lives are part of a church. And they turn 18 and then they get to decide whether or not they want to continue their path with God or they don't want to. But they have 18 years of knowledge on how God works in the Bible.
[01:22:01] Jacob: The Bible. And the Bible.
[01:22:14] Trenten: And I do middle school boys. Middle school boys is my age group that I help with. And some of the boys will ask me questions and I'll be like I got to go do some research on that let me get back to you next week . And then one of my other middle school boys will be like oh no it's this and this and I'm just sitting there like oh.
[01:22:34] Jacob: Oh wow.
[01:22:36] Trenten: Don't even need me.
[01:22:38] Jacob: But like they've got it.
[01:22:40] Trenten: And so for me rather than growing up in a church and having 18 years of experience. And so I'm like there's 13 14 year old kids at our church that know more about the Bible with me. I don't think they have a better relationship with Bible and getting into the Bible and getting into the Bible.
[01:23:11] Jacob: But my? Right. And I don't know maybe most Christians or a lot of Christians won't look at it this way.
[01:23:37] Trenten: I don't care.
[01:23:38] Jacob: I don't care what religion you follow.
[01:23:41] Trenten: I love you.
[01:23:43] Jacob: Do I think that tape that God. But for me as a person that's been through a lot. the I have made it my personal duty in life. I didn't do this on purpose it's just who I am. I am the person in the middle with his left and right handout. Come on guys let's you know let's look at this logic like I I'm always fucking putting myself right in the one who could break between these two people because I see both of their side. Yeah. That like. I don't know. It's great to learn to grow up and. And you know kind of see it's so hard to talk about like where other people are clearly messing up right because it's like you know you point the finger right back yourself like in so many ways. I just when it comes I guess like in a fight for example it's like when you get a bigger view of the world when you learn more about just yourself when you learn about like
[01:26:01] Trenten: Whether it's God religion spirituality this earth this crazy planet this giant rock hurling through space like once you just really like start just I mean I don't know spend weeks and days and months if not like you just learn but like at the end of it you're like fuck man what am I like what am I so why am I think am I so cool I'm not cool like I'm not hot I'm not I'm not this I'm
[01:26:23] Jacob: A popular I'm not important you know that I mean of course like all these you know just on an individual level like you're just on an individual level level like you're very important you matter but yeah there's so there's so much that It sounds like a scary thing it sounds like just a punch in the ego but it really is more than that like it teaches you when you just about this world around you and how much bigger every you know moment is than just you and like I could be the hero in this situation and break up this fight or I could be the the God's ass or whatever like it just makes you look atureau situations and you're like the stupid thing and what about the next day like hey man like you work at this place don't you want to like do this in five years like we get so like this motherfucker saying something he's talking right to me yeah I felt though when people are public speaking one of the public speaking is like you know make sure you're looking into people's eyes and like that day he was our password to me he was he was looking through my soul and it's my first day
[01:28:21] Jacob: Okay I got you my nerves help but with that come as long with like you were saying and being a better person and just through that like I've learned that I don't need to be that flex eat people up for people to like me I don't need to fight someone in order to fix the situation like that's not how God
[01:28:51] Trenten: Would want me to handle it that's not how like spiritually is like a like the most knowledgeable person on it so for me okay God right coming from me coming from like not really ever thinking about it but pretty much
[01:29:42] Jacob: Knowing you know consider myself an intellect like you know in some sense is that I feel like even out of young age like I figured out things that made sense to me in certain ways how do I want to phrase this so when I started getting better trend like when I started like you know writing on everything on the wall I started sitting down here in like 100% not it's up there and there's a couple things up on the right but I just got some new paint pens too if you have anything else that's been improving buy but I'm so okay so essentially when I started writing I started down here essentially what I started
[01:30:21] Trenten: Doing when I first found like spirituality or started just doing better and not being a depressed fuck and wanting to die I started just like I was sitting down here Chris cross apple sauce staring at this wall and just
[01:30:33] Jacob: Listening to like content like you know Tony Robbins like listening to like all these things trying like figure out like what's clicking what's gonna make sense like how do you how do I survive myself essentially right like I was like less afraid of my own actions less afraid of myself which is you know kind of hard to conceptualize but that's just where what happens and for me you know I feel like you hear like movies and it's like oh like this voice that popped up and it was just as clear as you and I talking and there was this voice that said don't do it or you can do this or whatever like it was nothing like that for me but it was spirit it was right so for me like I didn't hear like an external voice for me what happened was there was a voice within me that to me was a 100% me like in me meaning like outside of the ego outside of like what society says like your name like it was it was almost just like my regular voice got a little more optimistic but it was something like definitely listen to that right so for me it was like sort of being more optimistic and you
[01:31:46] Jacob: Start feeding that voice you start like okay like maybe I should stretch a little bit because I know it's gonna make me feel better although I don't really fucking want to do what's best for me right now I want the most comfort that I can get right now I know that okay like maybe I should stretch a little bit because I know it's gonna make me feel better like it was just like let's say intuition of like to take care of yourself or to trust yourself or to start and continue feeding the good stuff like so it's like porn like immediately like when I started doing that it's like let's not watch porn anymore like it was just like dude come on like that doesn't help you like that's not what you really want to be watching so it's like stuff like that of course I see the choice I see that yes I want to do that in that moment of course I want to masturbate you know I'm a dude but like you start saying like but you know what about long term what about what about your life like what do you want of life Jake so for me it started kind of like
[01:33:03] Jacob: Sparking this positive voice itself which at the time like I don't think that I cd I really actually even at the time saw it as like oh this is spirit this is my soul like this is really me like I didn't see it as that but it was just this piece it was just this like trusting of myself of this it's very difficult to explain because it's not like it's an external it's
[01:33:32] Trenten: Basically like my brain my knowledge like I'm like giving myself like just watching YouTube videos and reading books and listening to these people talk about these these things and I wasn't being like I believe that I believe that no that's bullshit I was really saying what if all right what all speach alright try to understand that okay forcing myself to try to like this person seems to be like if you can listen to Tony Robbins like he seems like he's doing great he seems like he seems like he helps millions of people you can listen to what he says and it kind of starts to spark something in you and you can start to
[01:34:11] Jacob: Think like what does he think differently than I do okay he's optimistic he believes in himself like blah so after a few weeks after a few weeks after a few months it wasn't until retrospectively that I kind of realized it was like oh that's what this is what people call spirit this I like soul this is like soul this is like intuition that is positive and wants to do good
[01:34:36] Trenten: I didn't realize the rain was falling I didn't realize this was one thing based on my pain
[01:34:44] Jacob: You know I can't probably goal, and be recovering
[01:34:47] Trenten: Your Basson Tops vehicle Lacr下面 you got this guy put him right back needs him here didn't even four at the end of the livestream it's the dog give me pretty much take a look at it
[01:34:57] Jacob: You saw him so I'm八s so it's not going all right is it bossy, and what t melted motherfucking Like once I was able to actually start kind of listening to my intuition and taking in these like YouTube videos and electronic stuff. And allowing them to change my view and be open to new views and basically like, hey I don't want to suffer.
[01:35:19] Trenten: So let's like look at why I'm suffering.
[01:35:22] Jacob: Let's look at this and that.
[01:35:23] Trenten: So I don't know. I think that the question I wanted to describe because like.
[01:35:32] Jacob: Yeah, 100% I was. I feel like I understand what you're saying and like, yeah. Did you have anything, like, kind of similar like to where.
[01:35:41] Trenten: It's the same thing.
[01:35:43] Jacob: I mean, but a little bit different.
[01:35:46] Trenten: Like if you read your Bible, like. The Holy Spirit is what is left inside of you and like for me, like to recognize and understand that.
[01:35:59] Jacob: And it might just be different personality types. But hearing you tell that story and feel like the thing you described to me, in my opinion, venes as a follower of Christ and the Son of God. Like, that's the Holy Spirit, right? That's the Holy Spirit, and whether or not you think it is part of you or not part of you. And I guess for me,, it's a little differently because and it's all how we look at ourselves as well. But for me, like when the Holy Spirit talks through me and the Holy Spirit speaks to me, it's like. Feelings that I know as a person, I'm kind of having, but I would never have those feelings. Like, so it's like stepping out and seeing like, okay, wait, you have a thought, like something popped into your head, like. And I like a great example, but so for example for me, like regularly you see bums on the side of the road.
[01:37:34] Trenten: God, he's literally came upon, upon hard things. And it's like, wait, I never would have stopped to help that guy.
[01:37:40] Jacob: Right, curious, right? So for me, it's, it's those thoughts and that like those moments where the thoughts have these thoughts that you never would have on your own. But you're having them, like you're having them, like those thoughts are in your head. Like for me, like that'sieve the Holy Spirit working through you and like showing you the path. So did you have to sharpen your ability to listen to that voice, maybe? Absolutely. And then the other thing is not only sharpening that ability to listen to that voice, but recognizing like those are your thoughts and those are God's thoughts. I'm like not trying to, not trying to like create a voice for God. Not trying to like, cause you have a lot of people that are like, I talked to God and he said this and it's like, not something that is religious or anything at all. And like, you'll see people that will create these thoughts.
[01:38:32] Trenten: Self-fulfilling prophecies.
[01:38:34] Jacob: Of what God wants. It's like if you read the Bible, it's not, it's not at all. Like, so to actually, like recognize those thoughts that are like, alright, this. This isn't me. This is, this is through me to create his dream, his goal. And there's been so many times for me where it's like, I just, did I just have that thought? Like, that's definitely not my thoughts.. Like, that's the, that's the, that's the Holy Spirit. So how do you feel after that? Like, does it feel like, okay. I'm supposed the same thing as when you said you feel like I said the same thing as when you said you feel like you have these thoughts are like kind of and it's you talking to yourself like it's you hear it as you. Right. Like, like you said, like, it's just me minus this, but at that point in your life where you heard that thought. Where you were at with your brain. Would you have really had that thought, you know? Well, so for me, when I like started really listening like, I had a, honestly, like the last couple of years, like I will, you know, when I'm older, I'm going to look at this time in my life.
[01:39:50] Trenten: When I first started the podcast and before it is like, that's when I had a spiritual awakening. Like it sounds just like so strange to say how, but it really is. And for me, it was like, I don't know, I guess, just kind of, kind of following. Man, I thought I had something profound to say, but it floated away. I'm going to be honest. Like just to, like I think for me and you, like where we're at in our lives, like we both found something spiritual that changed what we were trying to say. But for me, like, and I know this is like something people have a premeditated mindset about Christians and stuff is that like I'm a believer in God. But I'm not going to sit here, Jake and like try to convince you that your spiritual moments are wrong and that's God and you should believe in God. Because if you don't believe in God, you're going to hell or fuck that. You haven't done that once in our entire friendship. I'm not here to like try and create or convince like I've invited you to church before.
[01:41:01] Trenten: I've invited you to just come here, come listen, just come sit down because the thing about spiritual, in my opinion, because I had some spirituality stuff beforehand. But like spirituality, like it's just putting it to something, whether that's Buddha or God or a higher power. Like, but for me, for my like where I'm at is never going to be my responsibility to try and tell someone who has found a higher power that my higher power is better.
[01:41:31] Jacob: Or you should believe in my higher power. Like that's fuck that. That's not who I am. That's not where I'm at. That's not where I'm at. That's not where I'm at. That's not where I'm at. That's not where you should believe in me. that should be, but now if you're one of my best friends,
[01:41:46] Trenten: If one of my best friends has found a spirituality that has changed his life and brought him to where he's at.
[01:41:51] Jacob: Right, dude, right?
[01:41:53] Trenten: Right, seriously, who am I to judge what your spirituality is? My spirituality and the thing I grew from was God.
[01:42:00] Jacob: Right, yours, right, yours was God, yours was God.
[01:42:02] Trenten: There's like, it made you a better person. It changed who you are. All I can do is applaud that. I can't try and my friend is happier in his life. He found things that made him happier. Oh, they don't line up with exactly what I want.
[01:42:15] Jacob: Like what? That's not how life works, bro. You're better like you're a different person. You're creating this awesome like mantra
[01:42:22] Trenten: On this thing for yourself. Oh, no, brother, you don't believe in the same thing as me.
[01:42:27] Jacob: I think you're wrong. Well, you know, and that, that's where we were talking about the podcast got going. We were talking a lot about like this left and right craziness and it's so much arguing over who's right and wrong. And it's, I want to tell you, you don't fucking know right or wrong. You don't know what's truth. Who tells you truth? Who knows the absolute like people's, people's beliefs don't all lie.
[01:42:48] Trenten: Like people, there's so much disagreement and we spend way too much time trying to argue
[01:42:55] Jacob: Who's wrong or right rather than like, okay, like you believe that like let's talk about that. Cause like, sure enough, you probably expand on it and kind of like, you know, be a little lenient and you know, like let's expand a little bit more, more you realize you're talking about the same thing. Like, you know, you have your way of saying,
[01:43:12] Trenten: You know, religion, spirituality, God. And like you just said, it's like it sounds like the same thing I'm talking about.
[01:43:18] Jacob: And I think that- There's a difference, describe it and you know what? I'm not going to hate you because you don't describe it the same way as me. I'm going to stick to my beliefs and this is how I believe it. Just because you don't see it the same way as me is like, fuck you Jake, I'm done with this podcast. Right. Right. Well, you know, and I, but I think it's important to talk about and I think it's I'm going to point out because we live in a world where that seems to be the case, man. Like we have people, like it's so fucking divided.
[01:43:45] Trenten: It's so, people are talking
[01:43:48] Jacob: At the top of each other's heads.
[01:43:50] Trenten: They're not even having conversations with each other.
[01:43:52] Jacob: They're yelling at beliefs and meaning,
[01:43:56] Trenten: Things that the other person doesn't actually feel so I just think it's important to talk about. And I think that I also just want to thanks, again, thanks for talking about this too openly because I think that any listener,
[01:44:10] Jacob: Especially like, you know, millennials, a lot of my listeners are millennials, , like our, you know, we're not judging you for one, but we're also for sure, but we're also like, we just talked about like our drug problems, man. Judge me, all you want, man. Like you got your problems too. Whatever you think about me is in your head.
[01:44:31] Trenten: But I just, in this time of uncertainty,
[01:44:35] Jacob: In this time of, man, like when I was like super depressed and suicidal, if I had this like other little pinch of just knowledge of like, you know, belief or faith or hope or whatever, you know, I think a lot of people who are so close to the edge, you know, like, we've lost a few people that we know - just since the quarantine and I,
[01:44:59] Trenten: It's uncomp.
[01:45:01] Jacob: And it sucks. And it's weird., and I don't want to feel that I represent in this way. And I'm sure that you don't there like, circling everything about the Bible, like, whatever. But I think that it's important as like, I'm a friend or friend, like what this really is Trenten and Jake, we've been friends for a long time, like, be able to talk about what, what makes our life better. And I think that's really important. Like, we're talking about these bullshit conversations going on at people our age. And it's like, how about you talk about, like, what makes your guys' life better? And like, you can have different beliefs.
[01:45:30] Trenten: Sure, hell yeah. We just, we just- But learn from each other. We literally just went off, like, I believe in God and you're more of a spiritual person,
[01:45:37] Jacob: But do we hate each other because of that? Like, no, but I promise you at the end of this, you're going to go do research on the things I talked about. You're going to look into the things I talked about, right? And there's nothing stopping you from maybe changing your opinion or your research and the things you say I'm going to go look into the things you talk about.
[01:45:59] Trenten: And there's absolutely nothing stopping me
[01:46:25] Jacob: But I'm also 100% back the blue. I'm wearing a blue line t-shirt right now, you know? But I'm more on the fence, like, I'm not. I'm not going to lean towards either side. And the problem is you have, like, the Black Lives Matter
[01:46:39] Trenten: Against saying people that support the police
[01:46:44] Jacob: And they hate them and then you have the people that support the police and the people that support Black Lives Matter, and they hate them. But the biggest problem is right now is like, you've got the people like me,
[01:46:54] Trenten: That like my best friends are police officers. One of my best friends growing up was a police officer that lost his life. There's no. No way I'm not going to support him, but I've also got four of my best friends from like Idaho that are straight from Niger and are amazing people. And the difference is so I'm in the middle,
[01:47:14] Jacob: Like I support both sides and for both sides, but you have the people that are on either side. Like Black Lives Matter, like well, if you're not speaking out and you're not saying anything, fuck you I hate you. And then you have the people that are like supporting the police that are like, well, well, if you're not anti against that of that, well, fuck you. I hate you like there's no way for people to be in the middle. And there's a lot of people in the middle that support both sides and believe there needs to be a change and believe, you know,
[01:47:38] Trenten: But there is great people on both sides. And right now everything is getting so joined into just focusing on the bad people on both sides and not recognize. If you're not this if you're not if you're not if you're not. Not left, you're right if you're not blue, you're red Like it's all this it's this madness. And I just want to like the big thing with me is like and I don't want to minimize these problems
[01:48:02] Jacob: Because there's certainly like these are huge problems. And there's people way smarter than me who are handling this and have a way louder voice than I do. I don't think that what I have to say about this is what other people have to say about this. It's not my fight. I you know, you know, get intelligent about it. But I also think that a good example of what the fuck is, is going on before this race thing, before this madness is the fucking media man is making you choose yes or no. It's making you choose if you ain't this, then you're that in our entire lives are run by this. Like we get off social media, but then we act out what we learned on social media. Our entire lives There's dude, there's you see when you there is 90% of our news stations of how we get information is ran by six fucking companies. Bro, it's madness. The reason why we're fighting in the streets is the fucking news media is bullshit. I do think that there needs to be some changes. It seems like we're at a point in human civilization where I mean for sure,
[01:49:08] Trenten: I run over the past few weeks just seeing videos and reading like long things.
[01:49:11] Jacob: Like there's way more inequality than I knew. Oh, fuck yeah. There's way more that it's like, OK, but what I'm doing as a white person is just like I'm believing like I'm believing that, like. OK, I didn't see that there was these issues. But like if these people are saying, hey, like there's these issues and they happen to me in my in my town to my family to people who look just like me, I'm going to fucking believe them. Of course I am. And I just think I just, you know, this whole situation I've been so perplexed.
[01:49:46] Trenten: Like we were talking about this before. Like to me, it's way bigger than just the race situation. Like this is very important and we need some things changed. But to me, this is what happened before this, like the things going on in our world and the
[01:50:06] Jacob: It's starting to make me mad. I was telling you before this, like I actually have like, I'm not I'm not a pissed off guy ever. But I'm starting to get mad at the fucking news media in these who are just trying to spin bias opinions. And they're making people that I love and people that I know to be compassionate and caring. They're turning them into dickheads because these people, you know, if you look at Facebook in a small town right now, it's a cesspool of bullshit and these people are arguing over each other's heads.
[01:50:37] Trenten: They're yelling at each But they're arguing someone else's fight, and it's because the news media, I'm really just want to burn the news media, I guess. But it's essentially like, yes, we have problems going on.
[01:50:52] Jacob: But I think we all need to look at each other like face to face and be like, all right, how do we solve this like without trying to get the other? Let's not try to get the top of NBC and Fox and let's not, you know, all these the all these people up here that we're trying to like, because those guys, those guys are fucking idiots. No, dude, change what you can in your community right in front of you and have conversation and have real conversations. In it, you know, have open conversations with your with your person of color friends. Like, I don't even know if I'm saying something like person of color. I would just stuttered if I didn't know if I'm supposed to say black or person of color.
[01:51:30] Trenten: And I think it is that we that
[01:51:36] Jacob: Disrespect people by saying those things you absolutely mean no disrespect to our friends of color or but what's the right term? What's the right term is a white male for us to say like, and I'm also like most of our black friends after friends of color, like most of our care because they know we love them. Do like what is the right fucking term as a white male? What the hell do I say? See, see that's the thing in the news media and social media and all this shit. It makes you, if you look at it this week compared to last week and then this week, if you only went on social media once a week, you'd be like, what the fuck? I can't keep up because I'm supposed to say this and I'm not one day. You're supposed to black square and not say anything and be silent and solidarity. And the next day you're supposed to post this and you're not supposed to use this hashtag. I think I think that we're smarter than this and by this I want to just be clear, like this is this is an uncomfortable conversation for sure.
[01:52:30] Trenten: I just want to point that out. I didn't think it was going to go here. But it might as well. No, maybe we need to talk about it. But I think that listening to what other people tell you that you need to do is a bit ridiculous. When it's the news media, I it we have if there was if there's people of color who are like, hey, like this is going on to us, like the first instinct in people who are reasonable is like,
[01:52:52] Jacob: Oh, fuck, OK, well, let's fix that.
[01:52:54] Trenten: And that's how honestly most of us are.
[01:52:56] Jacob: We are some of the boys on here. We have a lot of friends of color and a lot of just to see like what their opinion is. Well, so, you know, I know it's touchy. I feel, you know, I'm fine with having the uncomfortable conversations,
[01:53:08] Trenten: But I feel like it's not my place. I feel like I don't want to be naive. I also don't, I also, don't want to feel like, like, I imagine an interview right after slavery, where they sit like a white person down, and they're like, let's talk about what just happened.
[01:53:23] Jacob: Like it'd be this, it'd be this like talking over each other and the white person just being an idiot because he's talking about what all he what he believes in. And the other people are trying to tell him like what's logical and like explain what's actually going on. I think that we're getting so many fucking words put in our mouth that we don't actually like we're
[01:53:45] Trenten: Look at a meme. So a meme, you see a photo and it has like a little bit of typing above it and it's a photo. And it makes you realize something you never realized about yourself. Like that moment when you wet piece of food in the sink and then it shows like the picture. Yeah. The picture is like some dude going it was like ET like gross like everybody's like I hate that feeling.
[01:54:08] Jacob: It's gross like blah, blah, blah. We essentially have the news media telling us how we should or shouldn't feel. We have people who, who we consider they, right? Like the we listen to they we listen to them others.
[01:54:28] Trenten: And it's just okay.
[01:54:31] Jacob: Here's what I want to for one. I'm I want to just point out that I'm nervous of putting my foot in my mouth here, but I was like, Hey bro, can you tell me about your, your culture and your history? Like, no, we don't say homies because we're just bull shit because we're just bull shit because we're just bull shit because we're just bull shit because we're homies. We don't think about it. It doesn't matter. Yeah.
[01:55:12] Trenten: I don't, I don't, you don't see that
[01:56:06] Jacob: . I don't fucking see that. And maybe I'm going to put my foot in my mouth in the same way, but like I just don't see it.
[01:56:16] Trenten: I see my homies. I see creative, smart, amazing people that are the same as me that we can have great fucking conversations like color.
[01:56:26] Jacob: I thought that was so far behind us. Maybe I'm maybe more advanced or maybe anything like that, but I just don't, I don't see it as color. Do you think that the way the media works were forced to like bring up?
[01:56:42] Trenten: Like I think it's important. Like if we did have things that we weren't addressing or that we didn't know that we had like beliefs that we didn't know that we were holding.
[01:56:50] Jacob: You know, there's a lot of that. There's a lot of people who have never taken a look at changing their beliefs or questioning them There's a lot of people who have never taken a look at changing their beliefs or questioning them. That's important for sure. But I also think that, you know, things happening in other places of the world, things happening in other areas of the United States and then being put right in front of our face in our news media. And they're saying, you got to deal with this. It's like, we're. We're like, oh, fuck, okay, that's important. Like because of course it's important because like at first it's like I mean imagine like the first couple of days like after you saw that video man. Like it's like what the fuck the this is fucked up. Like you're pissed like this need but then you have to slow down and be like, oh wait, what's right in front of me. What's right in front of me? What's right in front of me? Like who do I know?
[01:57:27] Jacob: Like if there's friends who want to talk about their ethnicity or there's like areas that I didn't realize or you didn't realize or like your white friends didn't realize that they were doing or saying or pushing or whatever.
[01:57:41] Trenten: Like fuck yeah, let's have those conversations. But I thought we could always have those conversations because we're homies.
[01:57:48] Jacob: I thought this was an open thing. Like I just, here's what I want I think we get so fueled by the media and thinking that we need to do this and here's our position and blah, blah, blah. But I think everybody has an individual to look at like where you're at specifically and be like, what can I do on my level, and what can I do to make sure that I'm not being naive on this level right in front of me. And to be honest, like we like we talked about everything.
[01:58:22] Trenten: I stay out of the media.
[01:58:23] Jacob: I haven't been watching the news. I haven't been looking on Instagram media, but even just having this conversation with you.
[01:58:32] Trenten: We're two white dudes. Right. Having this conversation. What we're talking about is not that. All I'm thinking is like, all right, we need to call Mack and have him down so he can check. He can keep us in check or do something because like, hey, I'm not.
[01:58:50] Jacob: I'm also not even comfortable having this conversation. Even though we're not having. We're not. We're not. I hope we're not saying anything wrong and we might be eating our own shoes. We're just speaking our opinions, but it's like, I don't fucking see color.
[01:59:04] Trenten: My niece and nephew's father is black. The dude when I moved Idaho, I was literally getting these shit beat out of me by a bunch of Indian dudes at a bar that I'd never been out to and I popped off. And all of a sudden these four African American dudes who are out of Nigeria, they fucking beat the shit out of everyone there saved my life, grabbed me and buy me a shot.
[01:59:26] Jacob: So you guys became friends. And those. Yeah, that's how we came friends. And those guys. I literally like it's merit Sega, Basu and mom would do and I checked.
[01:59:34] Trenten: I text them fucking every all the time.
[01:59:36] Jacob: I support both sides.
[01:59:57] Trenten: And I personally me I'm on the fence.
[01:59:59] Jacob: I support both sides. I think I think there needs to be change.
[02:00:06] Trenten: I think racial inequality is a thing.
[02:00:09] Jacob: 100% with the police force.
[02:00:11] Trenten: Police brutality is a thing. But I also think there are plenty of police officers that have zero problems with African Americans and there are plenty of things vice versa.
[02:00:23] Jacob: I do think it's a problem. But I do think that people can meet more in the middle and just the problem is we're just the media is the media is fucking forcing us to divide. They tell us. We're not fucking have our own opinion. They're forcing us to either your choices right now or you can have this opinion. Or you can have this opinion or you can have this opinion or you can be in the middle and everyone's going to fuck you. Right. Dude, no, it's ridiculous. And it's like I said again, it's make me mad it pisses me off.
[02:00:51] Trenten: Fuck the media. Fuck this.
[02:00:54] Jacob: Dude, it's ridiculous. They're turning us against each other.
[02:00:57] Trenten: Here's what I think.
[02:00:58] Jacob: I think that our news like what? Okay. News is here's what's happening. We're on a giant space rock floating through fucking in your news is. All right. Here's some things that are probably important to you live your life. But no, it's telling you all the fucking madness. All the like the worst things that are happening over here and you know, if these are changing giant systematic things that needed to be changed,
[02:01:27] Trenten: Then let's talk about those. Let's be reasonable. I just think that my big route from all this is like of, of course I want like equality.
[02:01:43] Jacob: Like of course 100% Oh, you guys are pointing out things that like I didn't know before. I'm going to change my mind about that because I want to be more intelligent about it. I want to know about it. I want what's best for you guys.
[02:01:54] Trenten: I want what's best for humanity. Dude, we have to move forward with this, but just, um, just I guess bottom line is like the news media is polluting our fucking minds, dude.
[02:02:03] Jacob: And Is there, can we talk about this like blah, blah, like, you know, I'm not afraid of the uncomfortable conversations and I don't think you know, I want to make sure a lot of other people aren't as well. But I think that a lot of us get kidnapped by the bullshit media and that's
[02:02:29] Trenten: Like we were talking earlier. I think before we started about how I was saying like, I don't like,
[02:02:38] Jacob: I'm not a fucking Democrat. I'm not Republican.. I try to avoid it at all costs.
[02:02:43] Trenten: I, I'm somewhere right in the middle. I think some things are great on one side.
[02:02:48] Jacob: I. I think other things are great on the other side. But what I said earlier was I'm a person of what the fuck is right in front of me. What is in front of me? What can I change that's in front of me? Because what did I say earlier? I don't give a shit what's going on in New York. And you know what? Some people might think, oh, he doesn't. What's going on? That's? That's not? That's not? That's not? That's not? That's not? That's not? That's not? That's not? That's not? That? That's not? That's not? That's not what? That's not what? That's not. That's not what I'm saying. I. What can I do as a person right now with my voice outreach, I don't care about is the things I can of touch. Things that I can change for me right now. And if everybody did that, if every single person worried about the things that they can reach out and touch. And the things they can reach out and change.
[02:03:39] Trenten: My friends, family, those things. And just worried With the things they could touch.
[02:03:45] Jacob: Right. That's where change starts. Because you know what, I could try to change something for the next 10 years in New York,
[02:03:56] Trenten: I live in fucking Southwest Washington. Nobody in New York gives a shit what I do. We're always just like I said earlier, we're always trying to fight they,
[02:04:04] Jacob: Them and if
[02:04:14] Trenten: They.
[02:04:19] Jacob: Who is they? Who is they? They. Who is they? I've got a friend who constantly is posing on Facebook and. And saying things like they said this and they think this.
[02:04:28] Trenten: And so me being smartest that I am.
[02:04:30] Jacob: I've just heard same text messages.
[02:04:32] Trenten: Hey they are watching you.
[02:04:34] Jacob: Hey, poor guys, right paranoid.
[02:04:36] Trenten: They see what you're doing. So we can be so primitive and silly sometimes that we can get caught
[02:04:49] Jacob: Up and, you know, like, like look at Facebook and our town right now.
[02:04:53] Trenten: Facebook is a hole, right now.
[02:04:55] Jacob: It's a cess. Bullshit.. I couldn't tell you. I haven't checked it in a couple of weeks. It sucks. It's..
[02:05:02] Trenten: Well, OK, listen, there's some people who like. I don't even know it's a cess. It's not the place to have debates. It's not the place to have we shouldn't be having debates against
[02:05:12] Jacob: . It's 옵 a I one of the way this way this way this way when I give you that option. you this or do you believe in that.
[02:05:21] Trenten: If like what about me. I don't know fucker maybe if I don't think either, either of those.
[02:05:26] Jacob: Yeah. but the problem with social media ishor kon. where, where you and I willing to have a conversation and say things. and I mean I'm not saying I'm the toughest person in the world but I'm not saying I'm the toughest person in the world but I'm like where do you And I mean, I'm not saying I'm the toughest person in the, but I'm also a person that'll punch you in your mouth. If you say something I don't like, social media breaks that down to anybody can say anything, anywhere. And people can say to me that if they said to me, like face to face in their person, I'm gonna fuck about you in their mouth. There's a lot on Facebook that as I'm scrolling, I'm like, dude, if you said that about the person you're clearly talking about,
[02:06:05] Trenten: They're gonna punch you in the mouth.
[02:06:07] Jacob: But social media, because you're behind a screen you smell, hear what you hear, see what you see, taste what you taste, feel what you feel. Look at right here, right in front of you. Look at like, do you have people of color in your life? Do you have friends who have different colors again than you? Talk to them, talk to them and what's going on with this? Don't do they versus they. And don't do, okay, my people, my left people
[02:07:01] Trenten: Or my right people are signaling this,
[02:07:03] Jacob: I gotta jump, I'm like, think for yourself. Look right in front of you, use your five senses.
[02:07:08] Trenten: Don't let this fucking social media, hijack your limbic system. Like, don't please use critical thinking. And please don't let people tell you what you are, man.
[02:07:19] Jacob: Like, if you're like, you know what, actually wait. I don't think like that. Don't let them convince you that you are.
[02:07:25] Trenten: Don't be afraid to have hard conversations.
[02:07:27] Jacob: Don't be afraid to look at your bias that you maybe didn't know you have. Of course, have different conversations. Take a look at yourself. Take a look at like, what could I change? What can I maybe do a little bit better in this situation? Where are areas that I'm brazen over? Am I not taking this area serious? You know, because강 Because of course, this is a Of course, this is a big deal. This is a huge deal. This is a serious deal. But I think we need to be able to look at it and be like, okay, they슷 not talking about Dy to be like, okay, they're not talking about me.
[02:07:52] Trenten: They're not, the news reporters aren't considering me to be these people. It's not this all whites versus all blacks.
[02:08:00] Jacob: It's not this all blacks versus cops. That's not fucking right. That's not what it is. It's much more the truth. . The question is, what is this black of your life. and what is this man happening to me? Who's that? It's so silly. Well ya I'm just not a good, it's so scary. You know, I know all I know about you. But you know the truth, it's already true. You know the truth, there's a reason it's true, but you just don't know who it really is. Well, I guess that's how he made it happen. Well, you know, I can't help you. I knew who you were after all of that. He was with me and you knew that.
[02:08:32] Trenten: I mean, I know that. I 느c eally.
[02:08:34] Jacob: So I can't just say that I'm not a good guy. I'm a big guy. But I know all of that, hmm, what? Entire basement too is a thing so you're up three flights of stairs So your head is like cranked- you almost have to like stick your feet out around the toilet bowl And then lean your ass against the wall and kind of pee so your head's not touching the wall right If you never peed in the Junkyard Love bathroom, you should make it come all over just saying I mean And there's also a couple at Cheers, buddy. There's a couple fine email. It's the establishment so Hey there's a Actually, got those I think it was goodwill so that goodwill years and years ago I was there and I don't know why I was there It was like probably a passing time sort of situation like I'm not actually going to buy something I'm probably just want to look and see if there's like a flannel. I liked or something And I saw those four finding Nemo. They're printed how Clips from the movie and they're like framed in black frames and they just look nice and it to me It was just like why did somebody do this?
[02:09:34] Jacob: Why did somebody print these out and frame them and so I bought all four of them
[02:09:38] Trenten: Brother they're going to the bathroom. Yeah, dude So Trenten thanks for stumbling through conversations with me We I do want to talk a little bit more though. I feel like you always had good stories about Thailand Let's see what here. Okay. All right. Okay, so give me a background of why you went to Thailand And I think in my head it just seems like this like MMA UFC like you and you and your brother Brandon likes somehow through Wrestling and MMA got over there, but I don't know Brandon is correlating it Brandon just moved to Thailand. I just moved to Thailand He wasn't like training for a for a match or anything. He might have been running away from something I don't remember. No, Brandon just moved to Thailand. He lived there. I don't even know how long he lived there I went there four or five six times like I've been there quite a bit But Brandon lived there. I, I want to say seven eight years. I think he lived there the whole time I lived in Idaho. My brother moved to Thailand and I moved to Idaho so you can tell where we're at So tell me cowboy boots So tell me about Okay, tell me about your stories Thailand for sure
[02:10:50] Trenten: But like also sell me on Thailand because I feel like every time you've told me a Thailand story I'm like, do we This always sounds great. You live like a kid Brandon lives in Mexico right now So I'm totally for him moving back to Thailand because Mexico is great
[02:11:04] Jacob: But fuck it's out like so for me
[02:11:08] Trenten: Thailand was my first like out of country experience besides Mexico, Canada and It wasn't that great of a first experience the first time I went I flew over there with three of my brother's best friends and We're getting ready to fly and mind you it during this time Up until a few years after my first trip to Thailand my brother and I took a Europe trip le
[02:11:31] Jacob: We went through like 14 different countries
[02:11:33] Trenten: I was going to do my first flight. I was the first one that was flying I was flying, I was flying. I was flying. I did not fly would psych myself out Well, my brother's best friends who have always been like my older brothers One of them was giving me Xanax before the flight and the other is giving me
[02:11:56] Jacob: Johnny Walker Blue airplane shots I mixed Xanax and alcohol and then took a I think 15-hour plane ride and I was known as the puker because I spent 13 of those 15 hours in the airplane bathroom Just roughing nothing up. There's my guts and everything on an airplane on an airplane
[02:12:23] Trenten: And the flight attendant comes and she's like, uh, so you have to get in your seat and we're flying to Tai a Taiwan So is Asian flight attendants. I'm like, nah, I'm good. I'll stay here in this bathroom I'll sit down. No, sir. You'll have to get in your seat. And I'm like, no, I'm good You know, like just I was in the bathroom puking for probably 14 out of the 15 hours of this flight It's like a good flight. They get me back to the bathroom. We land. I'm still feeling terrible and can't figure it out but I've never done Xanax before and Johnny walker blue alcohol. It was terrible, but I'm like get off the plane. I'm feeling okay. And I'm like, oh
[02:13:03] Jacob: Burger King serves beer here fucking Taiwan. King serves beer. Hell yeah. I'm gonna sign me up for a
[02:13:11] Trenten: Tray full of Burger King beers. You peed for 14 hours on a flight and you're like Burger King. That's the first thing that just burger beers. Oh, Birkin beers. Yeah, the burgers wait, what kind of beers
[02:13:21] Jacob: Did they have at Birkin though? Like I think it was Leo beers, which is like a tiger beer. It's kind of like Bud Light Budweiser somewhere in there. It's a beer. It's a beer, but they're serving them in
[02:13:32] Trenten: Pounders. We'll drink like one or two of those and then we have like a three hour flight from Taiwan to Thailand and
[02:13:39] Jacob: Get to Bangkok and it's
[02:13:41] Trenten: Bangkok stinks. The traffic is terrible Like if you go to Thailand, my recommendation is this been a day or two in Thailand in Bangkok and then go to Chiang, Mai, or go to Phuket or, or if you want to party, go to Kopee P, Kalanta, go to one of the islands, just get out of Bangkok and go to Thailand because Thailand, like Bangkok is
[02:14:09] Jacob: You've got food trucks right next to 17 feet tall garbage piles, like Bangkok is nasty. Like Bangkok is, like Bangkok is cool. There's a lot of stuff to see. Wasn't there a hangover movie that was based around Bangkok? Yeah, there was a hangover movie in Bangkok. But like, there's, there's cool stuff to see, but my recommendation, like,
[02:14:30] Trenten: I thought, fuck out of Bangkok.
[02:14:32] Jacob: Period. Phuket, that's where it's at. Kopee P. Kopee is like, it's the island where I think the beach was filled out with Tom Cruise, Robert
[02:14:45] Trenten: Nero, one of those the guys
[02:14:48] Jacob: And there's no cars. they're bikes or walking only and it's just a just gigantic party island. It was
[02:14:59] Trenten: Well, that was I have six. Years a go back in my drug days and I was like trying to find cocaine and I just kept going back to this bartender being, oh, this isn't cocaine. And I had like 17 different fucking drugs that I took in that night, like I was fucked for like four days. Could like pretty sure I took some hallucinics, some other things like Kalanta is a massive party, or Kopee P is a massive party island. Kalanta is more of a chill, but I mean, I don't know, like, I've been so many times, like trips where my brother and I would go for our birthday, just hit random islands around,
[02:15:38] Jacob: You know, wake up the next day sick to our stomachs.
[02:15:41] Trenten: What's your, okay, when I say like, tell me about Thailand, what's like the one story that pops to your mind? I wish that I could remember. I feel like you told me so many good stories about Thailand. I have. I mean, honestly, like my favorite story about Thailand is the, the Phil going home with a LadyBoys story. But I don't know if that's like the one to tell. I mean, yeah, it's funny. So my buddy, my buddy Phil, he's, he's from, from England. Like he's older, moved to Thailand when he was like 45, 50. But he's still like this savage ass old man that can outrun me on a bike ride and make me look like a bitch going off a bike ride. But he's talking about, and in Thailand, mind you, like LadyBoys are a real, real thing. People think it's a fake and, and, and it's, it's sad in Thailand, but like
[02:16:33] Jacob: The sex industry is very much a thing. And that's, you know, how to make money. It's a different world. People got to understand, like it's not the same as it is on here.
[02:16:41] Trenten: I'm like the one person that ever goes to Thailand and my brother and all of his friends say this, like I just never participated in that. It's just not something I'm comfortable like paying for or doing or being around. You don't buy LadyBoys when you go. Or, or, or lady, ladies, lady, ladies. You don't buy boy ladies. I'm just not into it. Like, I don't, I don't want to pay for that.
[02:16:59] Jacob: Or maybe that's, you know, honestly, the exchange rate to me is just too much. My thing was like, I'm so confident. Like I, if I want to go home with someone, I'll go to a club and dance with a girl because, you know, I got the move, son. But, but Phil, Phil, I don't, I hope Phil doesn't listen to this podcast. I'm going to send him the link later. So he does, but Phil's talking about like, like he, he went home with this girl who's like the most beautiful girl he, he's ever seen in his life, but he was so drunk. And he's like, I just, I've passed out. Am I, he's British. So he's like, I fucking, I, I fucking woke up and I look at, he's fucking wanking all over me.
[02:17:42] Trenten: And she's so, he went home with some LadyBoys who's like jacking off all over , top of him as he's sleeping. And he's like, the worst thing is, is just fucking rolled over and went back to sleep. He's like, this is so much, I'm not going to deal
[02:17:55] Jacob: With it. We're done. I mean, you know, that's a situation when you wake up in the morning and the, and the lady that you are with just starts playing with her wiener.
[02:18:07] Trenten: That's it. I can't say I've ever been there, but you know, for me, like Thailand is a America, we're free. Americans like, as Americans were free and we're supposed to have this like freedom, but to be completely honest, as an American man, I've never felt so free as a man outside of the country and that even goes to like Dublin and Scotland and being in Europe, like as an American man or as an American period, we're so much more fucking free outside of the United States as we are here. Like you just do whatever the hell you want. If people love you and everyone gets so scared, like I'm going to Mexico next week for the week after my birthday. I was like, well, everyone hates Americans
[02:18:54] Jacob: Right now. You can't go. Why are you going to go to Mexico? No news flash, right. People don't hate Americans. People hate fucking asshole Americans, like fucking
[02:19:04] Trenten: Donald Trump people that think about it. You just said everyone and people like everyone, those like, so just
[02:19:18] Jacob: Like we're saying they earlier, who's everyone? Who's day? Like it's, you know, like you go and you have like actual interactions. This is like actually great because like you have interactions with these people and you're like, Hey, I'm a human. You're human. And you know what, they're gonna love you man. They're gonna listen to you and they- they're gonna listen to you and they're gonna listen to you and they're gonna listen to you and they're gonna sad because I have fucking passport stamps from like something different countries. I know they made you turn it in. Yeah, turn your old one in. All right., what's the coolest place you've ever been? Is this still Thailand? Like what's the countries wise? Country wise? Man, I don't I don't think I can do a coolest one like no like I give
[02:20:14] Trenten: You a top five. Well give me a top five, yeah. Thailand, Ireland, Dublin, Ireland. I wanted to go to Dublin. We were in London last year and we were going to do two days in Dublin but it was just like trying to figure out like a hotel for suitcases and stuff was actually about it. Yeah, next time we'll do it. But now like I would say Thailand, Ireland, Spain, Spain was killer, Hungary, Czech Republic, those were also suit. I'd like to go to Czech Republic. How was it, so how were the, you're such a, like a friendly person,
[02:20:54] Jacob: You're a person that's like
[02:21:25] Trenten: You notice that's like usually what- I literally can pull out my phone and I can call people from anywhere you want because I've met, like I said earlier, like I can walk into a room with 100 people and be friends with 99% of them by the time I leave. Right. Like as Americans people think, oh, they hate usS us. They hate people that want to like be stuck in and stuck in your way and say, fuck everybody. I'm like literally, I'm like, I'm walking, I'm in your territory. So yeah, I'm comfortable with defending myself or protecting myself, but I'm in your territory. Teach me the ropes. Yeah, right man. Like, hey,
[02:22:08] Jacob: I'm here experienced like your side of the world, like what about it? What can you tell me about? Like, what's your life been like? Yeah, like, right? What do you do? Where are you from? And because of like having that mindset of like, where are you at? Where are you from? How have you done it? I like, so I'm like, so I'm like, I, I to come stay at their house. That's the craziest thing. Like think about how cool that really is, is like, you know, as a civilization, if we compare it, all right, what do you like? When do you think like, what year was it when like flights started popping off to where it's like, any motherfucker can just kind a fly where everyone wants and experience it like, like years ago, 40 years ago, 50 something like that, but not that long ago. But like, now you're able to literally just meet cool people who didn't have the same upbringing as you, they didn't have the same beliefs as you, my 25th birthday
[02:23:29] Trenten: Was in Amsterdam. My brother, one of my brother's friends, that he met in Thailand is from Germany. And he. And he's in Germany at the time. Well, it's like a five, six hour drive from Amsterdam to Germany, one of my brother's were there. So he wants to come party with us. This. This motherfucker wrote a moped, six hours from Germany to Amsterdam, partied with me all night on my 25th birthday and then the next day he hop's on his moped and rides back to Germany, breaks down to Germany, breaks down, trades a guy that has a guy buying a bus ticket for his moped and then rides a bus the the rest of the way back to Germany. Like, those are the kind of relationships you make. I literally have people in my phone that I think it's just a people that travel. The people that travel the world, they have that mindset of we fucking friends with anybody and they're just open and it's fantastic once you figure it out because I have probably 100 friends that are people I've only met once or twice in my life, but I can message them right now and say, hey, I need a place to stay and I'm going to have a place to stay.
[02:25:40] Trenten: They wouldn't even think twice. No, not at all. Not at all. Come hang out. I think we have, me, Shailie, Mark and Emily went to Jamaica a couple years back and we have kind of the same situation. We had a couple of people who were literally working there. In Jamaica at this resort, it was a different situation. It's like, if you're fun enough and you can convince them to do it, the bartenders will drink with you. If they're like, all right, fuck it. I don't know if they're 100% allowed to. I don't really know exactly how it works, but they're. On this resort we were at. We ended up, we'd drink with the bartenders and then you kind of meet them and then over the course of the week you hang out, we actually had one of the guys who was working there and he basically got the feel that we were cool and we're not crazy and we're normal good people. Right. We're not going to murder him or be crazy or anything. I'm sure they're reluctant just to inviting random Americans, but he literally led us in his private car.
[02:26:39] Trenten: This sounds sketchy talking it out, but led us in his private car. He took us to this private spot in Jamaica, this place where normally you don't really get to go to. I'm not saying this as like, oh, we figured out the secret. No, no, we didn't know this place existed, but because we loved this person, I don't want to drop his name on here, but he was a wonderful person. We had a good time. It was Mario, but he was just a cool person like it was like we had so much like vibe with these people like just because we're there. We're at the resort that they work at and the people who work there, the workers at the resort were just vibing with us as humans. Like it's like, okay, you're working and we're just humans on vacation, but like also like, man, it's super cool to meet you.
[02:27:29] Jacob: What's this about? You got to listen to them, you listen to what their life's been like, and then we were blessed to like, the fact that he led us for random white Americans just like, I'll take you in my car and I'll take you to the spot and we can hang out for the day. That was like probably putting his neck out, but we had such a fucking incredible time. I think that human beings being able to trust each other in that sense is so important.
[02:27:55] Trenten: The worlds of beauty that open up. That was like so random different tinder. Tinder here in the States, you're looking people to fuck. I had a tinder in Europe and my brother had one and it wasn't anything like that. It was literally just like meeting people. Like we met random people where we were like, oh yeah, you're a girl and you're cute, but you're just going to show us around the whole country. I went on one tinder date where this chick, we were in Budapest. We were like, Matt, she took me to this shitty sushi restaurant and then she took me around and showed me all of the sights. Incredible. Like at night, all of the buildings and the lights and everything, and then at the end of the night it was like, she gave me a hug, added me on Instagram. I went home and she went home and it was like, no sexual, anything like it is in the States. It was literally, you're just meeting people. All right. First date, you're just hanging in like cool. The next like two days after our last day there, one of her friends and her took me on my brother out.
[02:29:05] Trenten: It was actually the 4th of July, which I was super drunk and a bad idea to be that asshole on the 4th of July in another country and be like, happy 4th of July to everybody. Don't recommend doing that. That's the one thing that'll make people not like you. But some American shit. And then both of the girls were like wearing American flag shorts and shit, just trying to like be cool with us and it was all fucking bad. But just random, just meeting people and being a genuine, nice, honest, kind person and not being like, oh, I'm American. I'm so fucking cool. Get a lot of the old guys that go to Thailand. They're like, got a lot of money and I'm white and I'm rich. Fuck you. Nobody likes you.
[02:29:53] Jacob: Dude, don't go to these places trying to solidify what you are. Don't try to go to these places trying to tell as many people as you can about who you are. Like go to these places and just be a new person and just be like, I'm ready to learn. I'm ready to learn about this environment. That's not mine. I'm ready to learn about this entire world and culture and the way that these other people like think and do things differently than me. That's incredible. I mean, the same thing is like in Mexico, going to Mexico with my brother. Like I've got a guy that lived in the same condo and my brother is, Brandon and I are a lot different people. I went and stayed with Brandon in his condo for a week and he's like the first two days. I'm like walking into his condo with him saying hi to multiple people that he's never met. I'm just friends with everybody. I've got people in his condo that invite me to come stay today anytime I want. My brother's like, man, I've lived here for like a year and you're like saying hi to people like you live here and I don't even know
[02:30:52] Jacob: Who the hell those people are. Who is that? I'm like, oh, that's fucking Raphael and his wife. What do you mean? And I mean, mind you, a lot of it is like I get drunk and I just want to talk to everybody, but hey, I know everybody. Even outside of that, you're just a friendly guy. Okay. All right. So let's, we're getting up here in time. Let's end it here shortly.
[02:31:12] Trenten: Thanks for sharing your stories on Thailand Trend. So let's end this with
[02:31:18] Jacob: To any listeners who have a little trouble meeting new people or putting themselves
[02:31:24] Trenten: Out there or say a listener is like, you know what, fuck it, I'm going to go to Thailand by myself and I'm going to try to meet new people. Let's just leave off on a little advice of how to be open to meeting new people, how to be open to experiencing other people's worlds. I feel like you just give some great advice on this. You're just such a personal, you're open to experiences. Yeah. I mean, I'll obviously stay out of situations that you
[02:31:48] Jacob: Think are unsafe to you, you know, if you get a bad vibe because there are,
[02:31:53] Trenten: There are situations in these countries where you don't want to be in with the LadyBoys. Well, I mean, hey, maybe that's the thing. That's fucking cool. Yeah. Stay away from
[02:32:05] Jacob: Soy six. Don't go to soy six. I promise you. But just, you know, the thing is just be open minded, be comfortable, be open to talking about yourself and don't be pissed off that people don't speak your language. Don't be like you're in their country. So learn, learn the language a little bit, like try to pick things up or be with someone that understands, but just be open. Like be open to experiences, be open to conversations with people, don't judge people on their looks because these people make 10, 15, 20 cents a day. Like don't judge people on that, but that one person that you think doesn't do anything or doesn't make anything could be that one person that shows you the coolest fucking shit in your life. Right. They might know. They might know so much more shit than you know. They do. And it's like traveling for me has just been a, most of the times where I talk to people about like traveling or I'm going to Mexico right now and people are like, oh, you don't want to go. People hate you. Where have you been? Where the fuck have you been? Right? I've never been outside of the United States.
[02:33:11] Jacob: Go fuck yourself then. I'm not listening to your opinion. Seems like that's who says that too. Don't be scared of other people's opinions on where they're, on like, don't go here. It's scary. They're going to kill you. Don't worry about a people's opinions. Go. I promise if you're strong enough to go and you're comfortable enough to go, you're going to fucking love it. Just don't be an asshole. Dude, put your right hand out and just meet people. That's my one biggest advice. If I could give anybody any advice, don't be an asshole. Just be open. Love it. Period. And dude, I agree, I think that people like synchronicities start happening, right? Ripples, right? When you're just nice and you're just like, hey, man, I'm generally trying to live in your world. It's great to meet you sincerely and they're going to be like, welcome to our world. Let me fucking show you. Let me tell you what I know. Everybody that you know or everybody that you meet knows something that you don't. I think you wrote that on the wall, right? Everybody you meet knows something that you don't. I feel like I wrote that on your wall. I also wrote
[02:34:11] Outro: People will forget what you've done. People will forget where you've been, but nobody will forget how you've made them feel. Yes, you did it right there. I love that. That's a good one. Well, Trent, you make me feel good, man. I love you, buddy. I appreciate your conversation. I appreciate you diving into your own personal life so deeply. I'm greatly appreciate that. We're going to do this again. I think we only covered half of the shit we definitely should. I hope that it benefits people, but yeah, man, thanks for sharing a little bit about yourself and a little bit about your view of the world, man. I appreciate that. Rock the mic. Rock the mic. All right, listener, take care of yourself. Love your damn self. Meet some new people and just use your five senses. Just look around, man. What's right in front of you? Look at your life right here. What's right in front of you? Everything is okay. And don't be an asshole. Peace out. Listener, if you enjoyed the episode, please share with a friend. Send a clip to your friend.
